He has been a JAG this season. I'd much rather lose him than Tyron Smith or Sean Lee. It's not out of the question that Gregory finishes with more sacks than he does this season. He also has only 11 combined tackles.

I would not call him a JAG but the fact he has been a nonfactor for most of his career is telling. He is not the one. He might end up developing into a solid rotation guy (if his back is not career-threatening) but he is not, and has never been, the difference-maker the Cowboys wanted.

I never liked the pick and what it took to get him. Next draft up....

We need to spend big money on a proven free agent DE. As good as we are in drafting OL, we are as bad at drafting DE.
I'd say smartly on spot vets like Peppers. If you can hit a homerun in FA at DE go ahead but it's tough to pull off.

Would you rather draft by reaching for need?
Because that's how you fail at drafting.
They've done great drafting their board even if the so called experts in the NFL and here don't agree with their decision. May not be best player available but they believe best player available for them. Their method is being fine tuned judging by this last draft.

Would have nothing to do with a bad back.................

I disagree. He had a couple of games where he was a disruptive force. Since he's been playing through these back issues, the fact that he can give us games like that while hurt just shows what kind of player he can be. We just have to hope they can get these issues under control, but since it's the back, it's likely something that will either force him out of the game or to never be the player he's shown he can be.

Preferably a LDE; whoever is left/drafted can compete for the RDE spot or a backup spot in the rotation.

The pass rush is better without him. He's not a very good defensive end. Time to move on.

Lawrence didn't look too injured as he was jumping up and down while playing cheerleader in the game against the Bucs.

Not a single team in the NFL drafts bpa in absolutes. Are 32 teams wrong and only you can show them the light?

It's going to take forever to get the DE positions settled... I seriously wouldn't mind dropping the first 4 picks in the draft on front seven players....

"Saturation" drafts don't work.

Plus there are other positions of need on this club.

To go into any draft where you choose need over the best player available (within reason) is going to get you into serious trouble. This team has approached the draft that way– Choosing need instead of following their board.

If that first pick in the first round is an OT or a CB or a Safety or even a WR based on value... Then I'm A-OK with the Cowboys selecting him.

Use to say the same about OL as it comes to the draft.

Regardless the DE free agent market is going to stink... There is not going to be "that guy" there other than JPP and the Giants (and he) have both been making overtures are resigning– And probably at a "home town" discount.

He hasn't been the big factor that we had hoped for, so his loss - however temporary - isn't a huge one. Hopefully, the team can take care of things without him on Monday night so they won't have to worry about his availability until the playoffs.

But given the repeated issues, this is a roller coaster ride the team needs to get off of. Make plans for a replacement and don't get into any future financial deals with Lawrence.
