Not every fan on the old forum will turn around and jump on twitter to talk to those who write for Dallascowboys.com. That's the mistake the NFL made. They actually lost a ton of attention.

Pretty much the same here. I have no desire to "tweet."
The reason the forum works for me is because multiple fans can discuss something and you can come back to it and get back up to speed on your time. Twitter is just a attention grab, same with FB for the most part.
