Cowboys hope to keep Mexican Isaac Alarcon on final roster for regular season
Isaac Alarcon began this year's transition to defensive lineman in his last chance to stay with the Cowboys.
Mike McCarthy talks about the evolution of Isaac Alarcon
Dan Quinn said Alarcon has earned a real chance to compete for a spot after he's seen his progress since requesting the player transition to the defensive unit in December.
"He's going to be a factor for us. I love his talent, the size, his strength and he's mentally tough," he said.
Quinn observed Alarcon's capabilities last season as his physique resembles that of a natural defensive lineman prior to each game. In watching him, he concluded he had a potential player at that position.
"I've watched him since he got here. I've had my eyes on him and realized how tough he is in every aspect. I've always thought he's a lad we should include, help him develop. He's a quick kid, quicker than most offensive linemen. Defensively you have to have more speed (than offensively), so I think he's a good all-around fit. I have high expectations for him," he concluded.
