I like this kid a lot as a mid rounder, he has terrific intangibles and will not be out worked by any QB in this class.

People have compared him to McNair and frankly I don't think they are far off if he continues to get better.

He has the tools and it seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Definetely a solid prospect imo.

So what do you guys think of Dak?

Honesty, I like him but I don't see how he fits this offense. if I believed the Cowboys (with Red as coach) could build a scheme around a player like Prescott, I'd say give him a shot. Sadly, though, I don't think that would happen.

Couple of questions, how much of your opinion was from his undergrad seasons? Also did he get reasonably good coaching? I've only seen him in the Senior Bowl but from the short eyeball test he looked like a guy that would improve a ton with NFL quality coaching.

He just doesn't have the tools, accuracy, or many other factors that a NFL QB should have. I formed my opinion over his entire career. I read much more coverage on Dak than 99% of people have read. He is a great kid and he is a class act, but he would be a wasted fm draft pick with little to no upside.

A rookie doesn't have to do it. Romo's going to be around another 4 or 5 years and we're not damn debating about it. That rookie this year will be a 3 year vet one day playing with one of the best QBs in the league. What could possibly go wrong?

I've shared a board with you for too long. You've had a lot of just God awful thoughts during that time but one thing you've said has been more right than anything that's ever been said on a Cowboys fan forum. Jerry has a plug the dam mentality.A finger in the dike. If he is consistent with anything it is this. Our offseasons are spent reacting to the current crisis. The quick fix. No vision whatsoever for the future and when you have that mindset you never change the state of your team. You're always poorly built, there are always leaks, you're always plugging that dam.

Great post . The reality of the situation is that this will continue to be a poorly run team that will be average at best. I have no hope for this team being regular playoff contenders or competing for Super Bowls. There is nothing that has happened in the last 20 years to prove me wrong. It has become the reality of being a Cowboy fan.

I hope you're not wrong on the great kid and class act part as well.

Please, NO!

Oh, I admit I wasn't for Dak before the draft. I thought he was a glorified Tim Tebow. But I do like his maturity. And I have since changed. I never claim to be a NFL scout. I don't swear by my evaluations and readily admit I can be wrong as a tornado on a sunny day. :)

My daughter went to State and recently graduated so I been a fan every since. What I honestly see after 3 preseason is someone that can run with the first team offense and be a starter. I know all that talk about teams scheming against him, BUT I guess I can say I have faith in our coaches to do their jobs and come up with good offensive schemes to combat that. Teams still have to scheme against our O-line, RB's, Witten and our WR corp. Developing a scheme to just stop Dak seems ridiculous.
