Did Jerry tweet this to generate interest in Crawford? If everyone is all over this guy as something special they are missing the boat. I just don't see the benefit in paying him much to stick around. I hope the Commanders or an NFC East opponent signs him to a mega deal. Dak would have time to have a family BBQ before Jack gets there for the sack.

Agreed... Not this guy in particular but when in becomes the general feeling for most of the backups and rotational players it is silly. Thus guy is no world beater... However there is enough there to have multiple teams interested so he is a bit better than the average fan thinks he is to a team.

Maybe so BP, but I just don't see it and I am one who generally agrees with your general premise.

So we somehow can't afford to lose Jack Crawford now?

It's gotten to the point of "We just can't afford to let insert name here go, how will we ever replace him?"

I understand we can't and shouldn't jettison everyone but Jack Freaking Crawford? Let's bring back Dexter Coakley while we are it it!

Jack Crawford had position flex. You could line me up to at every spot on the DL and that doesn't mean that I will fill in worth a ****. Position flex is only useful if the player can actually play multiple positions at a fairly high level.

The point isn't that we can't afford to lose him, its that so many people are happy to see him go if he leaves.

Crawford isn't a guy you want starting but he is a quality backup at a reasonable price, which is something you have to have on championship teams in the salary cap era.

Instead of saying "don't let the door hit ya", fans should be asking if he can be resigned as the right price. If its value to sign him, do it. If not, let him go. But should say he is awful the minute it looks like he might leave.

He's not enough of a player to make anyone "happy", nor to make anyone sad either.

It's indifference and not caring.

The fact is that this team isn't in position to pay everybody, including Jack Crawford.

Nowhere did I say we can't afford to lose him....wait let me check again to be sure... Nope I did not.

No, you just tried to scold those that realize that the team doesn't need to compete or overpay for guys like Jack Crawford.

Watch out! They'll come and gotcha! All of these guys are must keep. If you can't see that, you're wrong. Or just plain mean.

This is the attitude I speak of. Five other teams are interested in him as depth but apparently our D line rotation is so far superior over those other teams that we don't need a nobody like him.

Or... Although he is not a great player, although he is not a irreplaceable star, although we may or may not do better in FA or the draft (as that is Not a given).... He might just be a decent guy as a depth and rotation for a cheap price.

Instead of some guy that some think is othing than a bum that can be replaced by anyone.

Here is the rub... If he can be replaced by anyone, would you be just happy to replace him with whoever he replaces on his next team if he leaves... The answer would be no.

Your full of it. Full of hyperbole.

Not all but you can't get rid of all without replacing them all either.

He is a guy I am ok with getting rid of. But I have seen enough people in the past with the attitude that anybody can do better or just as good and when the replacement comes in they actually do worse.

Dude is the definition of a JAG....................played in all 16 games and had what, like 2 1/2 sacks all year?

I think we can do better

Crawford wasn't bad 2 years ago when he was used situationally and more at DT. He had no business playing as many snaps at DE this last year as he did. That's on Marinelli though, can't even blame Crawford.

But now we have Tapper who should in theory be a better version of Crawford. Appreciate the work Jack, but hope somebody else signs him just for the sake of keeping him out of Rod's hands

We can, and should if someone is available... However to some peoples shock... It does not always mean we will.

Upgrade like FSU Walker if available in second... Think we can get a better DE, CB or WR at 28. Walker backup at DE but probably better suited at 3 tech.

Hey, plenty of players have left Dallas to play elsewhere. Including several quarterbacks. Should we rue them leaving too? What exactly is the acceptable attitude to have concerning these guys? Just so I have it straight.

Some folks are don't "buy" PFF's grades but they have Jack Crawford at an overall grade of 40.7 which is pretty bad... And by my eyes that's pretty much what he deserved.

He's the 2016 version of Nick Hayden and the Cowboys should not retain him.
