Main problem I have with him is the number of snaps he got, which isn't his fault. We should be good enough that he doesn't have to play that many snaps.

He just shouldn't be on the field that much.

Interestingly he played the 3rd most snaps among our dlinemen. He is a pretty good backup, but it goes to show how much more attention your free agents get coming off a great season. High effort player that should probably be the 3rd or 4th de in the rotation.

So, if you're "Ok", why are you trying to scold other people? Seems pretty hypocritical.
Because I was speaking of people that say stuff like this for every backup or rotational guy almost every off season. If that shoe fits for you so be it, if it does not ignore and move along or as butt head says... Settle down Beavis.

The fact is that this team isn't in position to pay everybody, including Jack Crawford.

We can't pay Jack Crawford the same 1.1 Million we paid him last year, when we have tons of cap room, in a league where the average salary is 1.9 Million.

Got it.

Your full of it. Full of hyperbole.

Not all but you can't get rid of all without replacing them all either.

He is a guy I am ok with getting rid of. But I have seen enough people in the past with the attitude that anybody can do better or just as good and when the replacement comes in they actually do worse.

6 under contract and all better than jcrawford: Mayowa, TCrawford, Collins, Irving, Thornton, dlaw
1 under contract with superior talent but never played before due to injury: Tapper who is 'supposed' to be healthy
under contract but never played: Ash

so we already have 8 players
i presume we are drafting at least 1 DE in a high round? that makes it 9+
jcrawford was only added last year after we failed to land any FA like Long

Hey, plenty of players have left Dallas to play elsewhere. Including several quarterbacks. Should we rue them leaving too? What exactly is the acceptable attitude to have concerning these guys? Just so I have it straight.

If you wish to rue...by all means rue.

If you have to ask, instead of think for yourself in hyperbole... Why ask for any answer that will not satisfy you.

With this team don't ever presume. A couple of years ago they brought in a huge amount of RBs. RB was seen as a need. How many did they draft that year.... ZERO.

A few years ago we needed o line help. In two drafts we spent 3rd and a 6 th on OTs until Finally going OT in the first with T. SMITH the next year.

Oh you is for sure with this team. There is just as much chance that in the first three rounds of this draft we take a pick of value in a a CB, WR, TE and or Safety before we even take a DE or DT. Sounds crazy but with this team you never know. But even if that is the case... Maybe we get lucky and a player in the later rounds who could be our next Ratliff

I agree with much of that... Just like Hayden ended up with too many snaps... But that's a factor of the both injuries and the system Marinelli uses. If a defensive lineman makes the game-day roster he's going to get snaps– There's no two-ways about it.

My take is he's he was a 40.7 rated guy per PFF last season– And even if you don't support the PFF grading system I think we can agree he wasn't very effective.

OK while you aren't going to replace him with an "80.0" performing defensive lineman... Maybe you can sign a 55.0 guy, who's a little better than Jack Crawford and won't break the bank. Incremental improvement is better than no improvement at all.

Here are Jack Crawford's grades per PFF...

2012 70.0
2013 47.8
2014 43.9
2015 39.4
2016 40.7

At this point he isn't even a young player.

Let the other five teams fight over him.

you can say do not presume.
if this FO does not bring in a DE FA and at least 1 DE in the first 3 rounds, then they deserve to lose.
jcrawford was brought back last year at the last minute because we could not get anyone else.

Nothing wrong with J. Crawford. He's a great utility guy that fills a lot of roles. The problem is when you don't have star talent at starting spots, you relying too much on glue guys like him. I'd like to bring him back for the right price.

I want to get rid of him. We just have to make sure we have the guys that make us ready to get rid of him like BP said.

During live chat, I was the first complaining about him. Trust me, I know he stinks.

You were speaking of those who don't think like you do, from ignorance.

This team has much bigger needs and more important priorities than Jack Crawford. If that offends you, so be it.

Nor am I Beavis.

Sure thing.

You're just the guy trying to tell everyone else how they'd should feel about it. And trying to scold them if they don't care whether the team keeps a journeyman player like Jack Crawford...

If that is what you keep taking from what I have said than no wonder you are running like a kid on a sugar high flapping you arms and muttering foolishness. Continue on
