I like how some people are ok with everybody going...without thinking about replacing them even if they are backups. The old saying...they can be replaced by anybody seems to ring hollow if other teams are wanting them to replace their own.
If other teams players are inferior to these guys as backups...would we be ok taking their backups they plan on replacing with ours.
Just something to think about.
We only have so many draft picks.

This is exactly what I think when I see fans ready to run players out the door.I like how some people are ok with everybody going...without thinking about replacing them even if they are backups. I would argue that the team's depth has really been the difference of late, while also being the cause of the majority of complaints and the primary driver of the up and down nature of the team.If you're not a no doubt about it pro bowler...people around here throw out "JAG" and want you gone. Meanwhile...they are also happy to throw away two entire drafts for a single player like Garrett. So who cares about depth building through the draft or free agency? Starters play 100% of the snaps anyway...right? RIGHT?!?
People don't like him because he has no eyebrows.![]()

Last year saw the depth at QB, OL and WR pick up without missing a beat. Having a top heavy roster, which Dallas already has, and depth precludes free agency splashes. The absence of big fish free agents conflicts with the fans need for instant gratification and sets a negative tone that informs the fanbase. Even after an 11 game winning streak a single loss topples the facade and brings all the resentment back. This is Dallas' second really good season in three years and a ton of those depth guys are about to get overpaid again. The numbers to bring back the band don't really add up so the front office takes short cuts that usually blow up in their face following success. Then the cycle shifts back.

I agree with you in theory, but this guy is not the one I'd die on the cross for.I like how some people are ok with everybody going...without thinking about replacing them even if they are backups. So we somehow can't afford to lose Jack Crawford now?
The point isn't that we can't afford to lose him, its that so many people are happy to see him go if he leaves.
Crawford isn't a guy you want starting but he is a quality backup at a reasonable price, which is something you have to have on championship teams in the salary cap era.
Instead of saying "don't let the door hit ya", fans should be asking if he can be resigned as the right price. If its value to sign him, do it. If not, let him go. But should say he is awful the minute it looks like he might leave.
and it will help in the comp pick formulasIs it happy to see him go or largely just indifference from most people?
I see it mostly as indifference. That is someone wants to pay him more than we want to, then have at it. Crawford is a dime a dozen player that if you lose to FA, you can probably find someone in FA that will adequately fill in and take over his role.
So we somehow can't afford to lose Jack Crawford now?
It's gotten to the point of "We just can't afford to let insert name here go, how will we ever replace him?"
