I don't understand what intrigues this front office so much with this player . Didn't we want him last offseason ? I just don't see how this is an upgrade even over mincey or Jack crawofrd ?

He must try hard and show relentless spirit.

So if we sign Clayborn, how many games can we expect him to play this year? 1 or 2 before going on season ending IR?

2011: 16 GP
2012: 03 GP
2013: 16 GP
2014: 01 GP
2015: 16 GP
2016: ?? GP

Anyone else see a pattern?

interesting. if we go by the straight math, he will play in -1 games. :)

but that is a pretty interesting stat.

haha look at all you using up the majority of your allotment of butt hurt on this.

Keep it up.

I for one am saving the majority of my allotment of butthurt for the Draft...I have a feeling I will need it more compared to if we sign this guy.

I wish there were an allotment of butthurt.

There's a complicated formula that's tied to a multiplier based on how much the team underachieves and disappoints.

Given the 4-12 record of 2015, that multiplier is infinity.

This dude is easily going to get 12-14mill
A year

26 years old and gets pressure.

You want a good pass rusher you pay for 1.

Get a good 1 tech in the draft like a Billings and our d-line is set for years at a fair price.

I know. And I get it. I just wish it wasn't so.

To be honest, I'm digging into my own butthurt supply a bit this offseason. It's hard when you know there's no chance of going into this season as generally happy with the roster as I was going into last season. And last season we were 4-12.

It's a challenge for all of us. Last year started with such high hopes and crashed and burned so badly. I wish it wasn't so too. Any disagreements aside, we all do.

But while we're down now, hopefully there are moves made in free agency and the draft that will reignite our optimism and hopes for 2016.

If nothing else, the returns of Romo and Bryant have to count considerably.

Marinelli is quoted as saying he'd love to have him back.

If Dallas doesn't attempt to re-sign, it could be a sign that things went south after a good beginning. That happens sometimes when you are losing.

Hardy seems to be a fairly intense player who expects the best. In a lost season, he may have simply lost interest.

I'll never attempt to paint the guy as a saint. He's probably a big pain in the @$$. But, the more I look at the needs and question marks this team has, coupled with the interest free agent pass rushers like Long, Charles Johnson, and Mario Williams are getting, and the costs for guys like Vernon, keeping Hardy and his warts for significantly less makes more and more sense.

Mix in Olivier Vernon with Adrian Clayborn, and I would ask for nothing more...then pair with Lawrence and Gregory. This fan would be highly impressed and interested as well.

I really liked Clayborn as a base down defensive end with Gregory coming in on pass downs, but not that Gregory can't be counted on till he shows he can fix his ways we need to add another vet piece along with Clayborn. Maybe William Hayes or Charles Johnson will slip to that 2nd group of free agents that cowboys will look at. -sigh- i wish we would just bring back Hardy.

I'm just trying to figure out why the team might have soured on him. I know he didn't produce like was hoped, but even Jerry showed that he understands that the layoff likely affected his production.

If we go after Clayborn, though, and don't attempt to re-sign Hardy, it's clear that something happened to make the coaching staff question his fit. After all, we've already weathered most of the bad press concerning his involvement with domestic violence.

I'm not opposed to keeping him, but I can't claim to know what happened in the locker room, if anything. If Dallas moves on, there may very well be good reason for it.

Maybe the ultra-sensitive, never-accomplished-anything head coach got tired of lecturing Hardy about Twitter comments? Maybe social media is more important to him than on-field production?

Or it's a further indictment of the people in positions of influence in The Cowboys organization?

Possibly on both. However, it could be deeper than that.
We had a poor season and when things go wrong, personality issues are magnified. Having Hardy on the team might have affected the locker-room environment, leading the front office to believe that a more cohesive environment will lead to better results.

I don't know that obviously, so any thing we say is speculation. I'm just not going to be mad at the team if it keeps him or if it doesn't try because there's probably far more to the story than any of us will ever know.

Very likely. And you just have to trust the front office to make a good decision or you don't.
