Not sure why the whining about $10 million a year that Williams want, so you do a contract for 5 years and $50 million, it is an average. Say $20 million is bonus so it would be prorated at $4 million a year then say salaries of $ 1 million, $ 3 million, $ 5 million, $ 10 million and $11 million. You have him for 3 years then you cut him or get him to take a pay cut in year 4. Would be an okay deal to me.

Also could sign Clayborn to a one or two year contract at no more than he made last year.

Personally I still like JPP at around $7 million a year average over 5 years. Even if we signed both Williams and JPP then rotated them with Lawrence, Gregory and Russell, it would be the best pass rush we have had in years. Then we do need a 1 tech although the coaching staff seems to still like T. McClain, C. Whaley and Irving (who could play both DT spots and DE spots) plus we very well may resign Jack Crawford who can play DT and DE.

Then the draft becomes more interesting to see if we go DE or DT early. From a personal point, I like what I have seen on Jonathan Bullard DE Georgia than I do Bosa or Lawson or Spence, kid is a workman type attitude, has played all line positions and been successful at them all, can play any scheme and pain doesn't bother him.

When was the last time a FA Washington signed from Dallas panned out for them?

One would think they would just keep from doing it in the future.

You'd think they'd learn.

Brandon Noble
Norv Turner
Stephen Bowen
Jason Hatcher
James Washington
Alvin Harper

I remember when there was a slight chance Daryl Johnston would end up there.

That only gives the Dolphins a chance to match any offer he gets. No draft pick compensation for Miami if they don't.

So you want to pay him 10-12 million to steal him away? Because Dolphins match anything reasonable.

No, I don't. I would prefer Joey Bosa or Kevin Dodd in the first round. I was just thinking that this team was willing to pay Greg Hardy $13 million last year; and Vernon isn't a constant headache, so anything's possible.

I'd rather have Hatcher back than Clayborn.

Hatcher may be 34, but he would still provide great depth. We all knew, when he want back to a 3-4 defense, it wouldn't work out.

Put him back at 3-tech where he belongs!

So technically 5 days into signings and after how many RBs signed?

Technically two days into signings and how many RBs signed already is completely irrelevant.

Are we seriously having a debate right now that FAs available at the end of the month will come cheaper than the ones signed right away? This is, like, a thing we're doing?

We are debating that if you target mediocre, you get mediocre or worse.

If you target stars you can still get lucky and they actually do what you pay them to do.

But sometimes the best of the best will hold out and take full advantage of FA and wait to sign.

That's not the debate at all. lol It's whether you can sign a player cheaper now or wait a few weeks.

I have this feeling our DL that we field will be of putrid stature this year

No hardy, no Gregory, Lawrence with nobody to draw double teams away from him, nick Hayden starting again plus a whole lot of "jack Crawford" and no names that posters here will decry the next coming once marinelli gets his mitts on them..........
24 sacks here we come.....
