Cowboys lingering problem on defense is still their pass rush

Yes, the additions on defense has shored up the interior of DL and hopefully brought much support for run defense but without a premiere pass rusher can we put enough pressure on QB’s or will we leave our secondary vulnerable again.

Obviously we are concerned or wouldn’t have brought in Miller who is on last leg of his career.

So despite all the optimism towards a defense which has obviously been upgraded on many fronts this remains a major concern which could thwart an improved roster on defense and top 5 offense from making the playoffs.

There isn't a proven Micah Parsons-type pass rusher. Parsons is obviously gone, and Dallas no longer has that one player offenses have to account for on virtually every passing down. That puts more pressure on the rest of the defensive line to create pressure collectively. Dallas needs someone to emerge as "the guy." Donovan Ezeiruaku is one of the biggest candidates. He's entering his second season and is considered extremely important to the Cowboys' plans for rebuilding the pass rush.

The young edge rushers have potential, but potential isn't production. The pass rush hasn't consistently collapsed the pocket in camp. While Dallas' DB's have been creating tight throwing windows, the pass rush hasn't consistently gotten home. That's pretty concerning because good coverage can only last so long if the quarterback has time!

Dallas has added more talent around the pass rush, including Rashan Gary and Von Miller and the DT's are considerably more talented. That means the Cowboys don't necessarily need one player to replace everything Parsons gave them. They just need guys who can consistently win their matchups.

This season isnt shaping up to be where you have a Parsons level pass rusher as we wont have that for YEARS

This year is pressure by committee…..i dont think one person will have double digit sacks instead you’ll see 5-6 guys with around 5-6 sacks and one with about 8-9

Which to me is fine….we’ll have pressure and sacks its just gonna come differently

Sometimes that's even better. The element of surprise. Could be somebody different each week that steps up.

None of the starters played so how in the hell can you declare the pass rush sucks? Please explain that. Are you Johnny Carson?

Yeah, the lack of edge pressure against better quarterback and receiving teams will reveal IF the scheme can compensate for the lack of alfa pass rushers.

Unless Miller experiences a fountain of youth time warp that is, lol.

Gitcha popcone reddy.

We have yet to see EZ, Gary or Miller, I am far more concerned about OT.

Not worried since no starter was playing

and we have had great Pass Rushers in the past and what did it get us?

NOTHING.

Ware and Parsons; one in the HOF and one probably will get there.

Show me the hardware we got from having them?

They’ve done all they can do outside of acquiring Crosby.

Dallas just needs to be a top half of the league unit.

Last year was a different level of bad.

The Micah Parsons teams could rush the passer then we’d just get ran all over.
Which is how we got beat at playoff time

I haven’t read any other replies yet, but we don’t know because the starters aren’t playing

Isaiah land might make the 53. He's had a great camp. He's a good pass rusher. He's looked good in these games. Don't sleep on him.

What has Sam Williams actually shown in camp or these games? Can anyone say? Are we shopping him? He looks like a jag. Nothing he does pops. He's another cut or trade.

We haven't seen EZE, Gary, Miller, and Lawrence play together in any combination yet. Or Quinnen and Clark inside with those guys outside. So I will reserve my opinion on the pass rush until then.
Eze might get traded. I'm telling y'all, I'm not sure this staff is married to him or Sam Williams.

Micah isn't coming back... time to let it go.
