@SullyBaldHead: Cowboys really like the depth in this draft, don't be surprised if they trade future picks (2014-15) for more selections this April.

I can believe that, this is a make or break year for Garrett. He has no reason to worry about future drafts if he's not here.

id rather trade FOR 2014 picks... trade our 2 and 6 for a '14 #1... that way we can go all in on clowney haha. My ideal would be to Trade Spencer for a 2014 #1 and trade orton for a 2014 #3 sign a crappy backup qb and start Hatcher at DE (since he only has one year left), Ratliff at 1tech and Crawford at 3tech. Package the two #1s, our #2 and one of the #3s in '14 for Clowney. then youd have a line of Ware-Ratliff-Crawford-Clowney... maybe Brian Price (who i am REALLY high on) instead of Ratliff in '14 with Rat being rotational. that would be a sick line.

Might as well, since it seems we will have a fair amount of comp picks next season.

how do you figure? we kept spencer, Jenkins is getting NO interest in a crowded market... same with Jones. we will sign at least two lower tier FAs and they will wash. We wont get a single comp IMO. If it werent for all the DB cuts and Franchising Spencer we would probably had a 3 for Spencer and a 4 for Jenkins, but it didnt work out that way.

No thanks. I am quite happy with Romo. I love the potential of Manziel, but I can't stand his charachter. He is a freshman and already he's the most annoying player in college football. Next year is DEEP at QB we could use our first pick (in my scenario a #3) on a developmental guy.

There is still plenty of time left for free agents to be signed. We have two potential right now with Phillips and Ogletree. Jones will sign somewhere, and I am sure Jenkins will as well when he lowers his asking price. Then there is Victor Butler who is drawing interest. The Cowboys may not get premium comp picks for them, but at least it is something.

they MIGHT end up with one #5... max one #4. they wont get multiple though. the comps are based after amount spent on FAs and amount lost. while we lost a few, they will be signed for mostly near minimum and we will sign a few too. Jenkins and Phillips may allow us to get one comp, but the other will get minimum deals. I forgot about the Phillips deal though which was actually decent.

We aren't good enough to be giving up future picks. Romo gets hurt and we will be wasting a 2014 1 that could be in the top ten for a pick in the 50's in 2013. No thanks.

I honestly can see us trading a first next year to jump back into the first round this year. Get a safety or guard or maybe Eddie lacy. Seems this draft is a big one for us

So lets get this straight...We are hoping to stockpile picks in this years? Isn't this our same group of draft guru's that hit home runs 2006-2009? Now, pessimism aside......:lmao2: Least they're staying out of free agency for now:bang2: or over paying for one of our own:bow:

I think this would be my plan, too. Jerry Jones knows the window is closing on some of his top players and said so last year, so he needs to make a push with them now.

In order to do that, he'd have to a) make a lot of room and be aggressive in free agency, which only adds more big contracts and older players or b) take advantage of a deep draft by trading for more picks in the early rounds, which would give Dallas an influx of young players with small contracts for the next few years.

Dallas cannot, however, afford to trade back to pick up more picks. If it's going to take the now approach, it needs as many "blue-chippers" as it can get.

I would like to see some extra picks next year too. The only way that I want extra picks this year is if they get some picks by trading Spencer or some of the other overpayed veterans. For the right price , Romo could go as well, even Ware. I am ready for full rebuilding mode. Next year they could target the top QB and Clowney. Now that would be a good draft to get both.

Figures. Jerry has to have his moment in the sun, especially with no top free agent.
