If true I think there is a better chance they trade down to five + spots looking for a 2nd round pick.

Here comes the beanstalk...

:muttley: Seriously though, this team should looking hard at Bridgewater and JFB next year, doing what it takes to get one of em. It would be the right move IMO.

I would like to see some extra picks next year too. The only way that I want extra picks this year is if they get some picks by trading Spencer or some of the other overpayed veterans. For the right price , Romo could go as well, even Ware. I am ready for full rebuilding mode. Next year they could target the top QB and Clowney. Now that would be a good draft to get both.
eh im not ready to give up Ware or Romo really. Ware is still the best pass rusher in the league when healthy (unless Watt continues the way he is going and from the 34 end spot no less jjjeeesh ) also i am just not down with manziel. hes a diva and will be a bad egg imo... bust is written all over him, but we shouldnt be trying to get more picks this year. I WANT CLOWNEY ahaha

I think this is more or less telling teams that they are interested in trading back in the 1st and adding picks if their guy is gone than it is trading future picks.

If the top guys are gone and you like the depth then why not trade back when you have similar grades.

18 and 47 for cincy 21 and 37
Then trade 21 to Miami for their two seconds and another pick

There is very good depth in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I agree, but all the more reason to trade down IMO. I think it's foolish to trade away future picks.

Heres another one from Baldy.

Jeff Sullivan ‏@SullyBaldHead It's pretty obvious that the Cowboys are going to allow Tony Romo to play out his contract in 2013. Don't expect an extension.

This deserves it's own thread. I see a quality discussion around this topic. Romo on the way out? Oh yeah, it would be a twenty page thread.

Who knows how well founded this is.

Sullivan's partner is Josh Ellis, who has completely done a 180 on Romo.

...I was one of the first to say he'll probably be gone. On one hand it saddens me as he's a very good qb and solid guy on the other hand I kind of hope he gets a shot to win somewhere else. Problem is, I can't really think of anywhere that's a good fit. Vikes should consider it but probably won't....Jets could use him but they're screwed with Sanchez and his contract....dunno but it looks possible.

If he's on the way out & we're looking for more picks then this is a good time to deal him. Cleveland, Arizona, Buffalo, & Jacksonville are in dyer straights to get a QB. Personally I don't want to see him go, I just want to see a NFL caliber Oline in front of him not a trash heap.

1. Who is this Sullivan guy? Is he credible?

2. If they plan to let Romo play out the contract, and if they plan to add picks this year, does that mean we're taking Tyler Bray or another quarterback this year?

3. Are they going to draft a qb this year just to get leverage on Romo and his agent? Because that would be the worst reason to draft a qb. So maybe that's what we're doing.

4. If not, don't we want/need all of our extra picks next year to go for Bridgewater/Manziel?

Go ahead . Copy the quote and start the thread. I'm all in. I would do it , but I am on my phone. It won't let me do it.

We should just trade him now if we are not extending him.

Yeah, no clue what is going on.

If we plan on doing that, just trade him and start the rebuild. Set it up for one of the 2014 Qb's.

I said this days ago and agree with it. Whats the point of extending him if the gravy train of FA just passed by. Let him play his final year and see what your draft slot is next year. If your in top 7 then you take your QB of future. If your 8-8 again and sitting in middle of first round they should trade up. I like next years group of QBs in draft.

I think we let him play out his contract and draft/acquire his replacement. Seeing how much the top QBs are getting paid, he would would soak up 20M of our cap space. We could draft our new signal caller and address all our other needs for that much.
