I hate that we try to run the ball in shotgun formation so often.

In Week 1 of the 2026 season against the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys broke down as follows:

• Shotgun: 71.2%
• Under Center: 28.8%

• Shotgun Heavy: Dallas remained in the upper tier of shotgun usage in Week 1, ranking among the top 10 most shotgun-heavy offenses in the league.
• League Contrast: While the league average shifted back toward under-center plays in Week 1 (42.5%), Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense continued to align predominantly in the shotgun.

Schotty always talk about what "we are going to do" but then we do the opposite on gameday. I hate that we run so much out of shotgun. And our run game just doesn't look creative after watching the giants misdirection and constantly pulling and motioning guys in the run game.


But, I wonder if we used more shotgun due to them not trusting Dak's back turned with Steele trying to fend off the Giants pass rush. It seems our plan was to get the ball out of Dak's hand with the quick passing game. Especially with the run game struggling vs the Giants big physical defense.

That's been the story of his career was using the shotgun because it's the most helpful thing for him! Yeah we were supposed to run well with Adams running the show etc maybe we will see something better against Washington who knows
