Cowboys love the shotgun formation under Schotty

I'm right near Cape, in Jackson. But I work on Cape.

I didn't think anyone knew what cape Girardeau was.
I used to date twin sisters from Cape Girardeau. They thought they were pulling a fast one on me but I knew the whole time.

The point is the FO lucked into Dak and Romo. Dak was a 4th round comp pick they wanted to backup Romo and Romo himself was a UDFA.

This team has not drafted a QB to be "the guy" since Aikman in 1989, and that was a no-brainer.

Do you trust this front office to get starting over at QB done right? This is why we say we will miss Dak when he's gone. Unless Jerry and Cap Boy are suddenly roster creating genuises.
An under appreciated fact. Romo and Dak were gifts. Those dummies never took advantage of it. Should have been all in during those rookie contracts.

That’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever said. And there’s plenty. The dummies will agree with you. Haha.
Absolutely and I agree with you, coming from you, YUP over him any day, still one of the dumbest narratives ever, I think he needs to go back and watch those games, because I remember, the rams game that he fumbled twice threw like 100 yards and they don't want game that was being for Rusty Ramsey or was it a great defense special team riding game everything was running well..

Let me refresh his memory The guy could barely score one touchdown game had our offensive bottom 10, In all categories I mean if somebody wasn't paying attention and seeing those games would have been not only won them but would have been put awa early and knock them down, not like rush which came down to the last drive or 2 because I remember most of those,

The Cowboys O struggled and barely won those games, Dak got back they were immediately in the top 10 then eventually in the top five of offense in 2022 mean do we need to revisit all that?

That's funny because people around here in their 60, 70s still talk about who the hot chicks were in high school. And all the gossip from back then. It's a trip. I've never seen anything like it.

With our current oline, they need to have him line up like a punter.

If Dak didn’t have one of the highest sack avoidance rates, the offense would look a lot worse than it does.
 :hammer: :laugh::lmao:I agree with you but the other side of this is the league plays a lot of shotgun it's been like that for a very long time it and it was just one game this year i'm sure they'll have game plans where they're under center sometimes but you're right he needs a full view and a running head start to get away from some of this tackle play especially 78 And by the way the last two seasons this is some of his best pocket presence that he's had in a very long time.

It's like he had to but he's climbing the pocket and moving within the pocket and not just taking off I know we want him to run more but he's feeling the pressure and moving but keeping his eyes down feel better than he has on a really really long time..

I can’t even be mad at Dak, when he’s hitting guys in the chest and they drop it….
The int was bad but some of our top guys make those catches the chains keep moving and flow changes

My argument is against the group that tries to make everyone appreciate Dak because if he wasn't here we would definitely have to suffer through years and years going through a slew of garbage QBs as if there is 0 possibility that they could end up drafting a legitimate 1st round star. The fact they were able to find Romo and Dak shows that there is a good chance that that's not the case. Is it a possibility? Sure. There's always risk. But people trying to sell it as an absolute "this or that" are ridiculous.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If he’s behind center every run play ………….
How many passes does he throw behind center? the answer is basically 0 outside of playaction, so its easier to telegraph runs knowing this. If the line play doesnt improve, PA attempts also decrease significantly.

I was referring to last year. Also if I remember correctly, MM had ARod in the shotgun quite often. You keep wanting to bang your head on a false narrative, that’s fine. But you have absolutely zero clue about why a coach uses the shotgun more or less. Unless you’re sleeping with the guy and tells you during your pillow talk time. :muttley::laugh:
Man, you are SO DENSE
You said we are doing shotgun because of a weak OL
I said, go look at Dak when we had a great OL. It was still a lot of shotgun
The common factor is Dak but of course you are going to run

So coaching tendencies don’t matter either? Just the narrative that Dak sucks and nothing else? If Dak isn’t any good under center, why not be in shotgun 100% of the time? Stupid coaches I guess. No wait, Dak sucks

Tom Landry invented passing from the shotgun formation.

Prior to what Tom Landry did with Roger Staubach, the shotgun was a run formation only.

Almost four decades later, Tom Landry's impact on the game of football can be seen everywhere in the NFL.

Anytime we want to discuss the 4-3 defense, the shotgun, pre-snap motion, quality control, scouting opponents, etc...........a little shoutout to the man that created the reasons we are all fan of the Dallas Cowboys today.

It all began with the Great Innovator.

We won with cooper
Cooper Rush, after a brief stint with the Ravens last season joined the Falcons this season, got a starting opportunity against the Steelers and played pretty badly for the Falcons in that loss. Maybe he was still dealing with back spasms and the Falcons had him start anyway. Perhaps he likely will hang it up in the near future considering he is 32 years old and for not playing that much over his career is dealing with serious back issues.

Being in shotgun has nothing to do with how good or how bad a QB is.

The thing with Dak is, he's not the best but he's miles from bad. He is what he is. The Cowboys can win it all with Dak provided the team around him is good enough.

The Cowboys of the 1990s won plenty of games when Troy Aikman was not at his best, because the team was so talented. The way the Cowboys have been constructed, they cannot survive even a mediocre game by Dak. That's why he gets so much of the blame.

You are totally right. What messes up my thinking is I remember the era between Aikman and Romo when this team kept going through hopeless projects (Anthony Wright, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson) and washed reclamation projects (Ryan Leaf, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe).

I don't want to go through that again. Sheer dumb luck gave them Romo and Dak. The odds of them lucking into the next QB are slim. So they will have to become the Browns and keep trying QB after QB until they get it right? I'd rather not.

But you are right, the more times they try at QB the better the odds they find one.
