I call BS. He will want as big a contract as Canty. What would be the point? Just re-sign Canty if you have the cash.

The Cowboys really don't know how good Jason Hatcher can be. Are you sure you want to block him? He played very well down the stretch in a limited role. Before his hamstring injury, when the coach didn't let the team get lose before sprints, there was talk that he was pushing for a starting job.

I say go with Jason Hatcher. He should be able to do that job, and he's cheap. Bowen should be back, too.

This will be a long thread....I do like Igor's game better than Canty's at this point. He's more physical at the point of attack and has a better motor: doesn't take plays off like Chris can at times. But is he worth that much MORE than Canty? Meaning: I think Igor will get more money and years than Canty but in the end I think they'll go with Hatcher like 41gy# said: younger, cheaper but unproven. Too bad about Canty: he's not worthy of putting the franchise tag on, but to lose him for nothing sucks.

Are you sure about that... Good look at the career stats and compare if you will.
Igor is more consistent. especially at getting pressure imo.

Agreed. Let's be real here. Our DE's in Spears/Canty are nothing special. And yes I understand what they're asked to do. They are nothing special, regardless of how 3-4 DE's dont pick up stats.

Therefore, why not give a younger player a shot? I have heard good things about Hatcher, and remember hearing he would be raw, but if coached up could become a pretty good player. This coming from Parcells IIRC.
