Cowboys | May be interested in Olshansky

Canty is better IMO. Everyone looks down on his play, but his job is to take on blockers for Ware and run stop. I think he is doing his job quite well, but all know I am bias on the Canty subject.:)

Right since stats mean everything...

i actually get to see alot of charger games. unlike alot of people who post based on the popular opinion. and quite honestly these two player are identical in every aspect. neither of them are going to apply pressure to a qb on a constant basis. and nor do they have to. they play DE in a 3-4, whos main job is to occupy blockers to make way for the OLB. canty did a damn god job doing that, as did olshanky. thats why both teams OLB's were successful. anybody thinking olshansky wont command the same kind of money canty then theyre fooling themselves. and with more 3-4 teams coming out this yr mor DE's wil be in demand. GB and Denver are switching to 3-4 this yr. along with teams who already need DE's like Miami and SF.

IMO dallas needs to stick with hatcher. Bowen is decent aswell.

thanks someone sees the point of Canty. Just because he isn't racking up sacks doesn't mean he isn't playing well at his end spot.:)

hell im pretty sure canty was near the top in the nfl at batted balls. the guy was always with his hands up knocking balls down.

I agree. I will be very sad to see Chris walk I have known him since his UVA days and don't want to see him walk.:(

Canty and Olshansky are pretty similar players and I imagine will get similar contracts. Canty is younger and knows the system so I would still attempt to re-sign him before inking Igor.

I hope we re-sign Spears before next off-season. I don't like losing serviceable players. Ware is a must sign but after that they need to re-sign Spears. The defense can't afford to keep replacing linemen.

Neither guy is anything special. A halfway decent draft choice and you'll never even know Canty is gone.

I don't think the distance between these two players is as great as some of you would like to believe. I think they are actually quite similar in terms of skill set, ceiling and talent.

I wouldn't sign either of them. 3-4 DEs aren't worth large contracts. Draft a replacement.

Have we ever had an Igor??

if hes more affordable then canty cool. he can give us the same or better production

i would love to have the guy only if hes cheaper. if not then whats the point, unless wade feels this guy is a major upgrade

His name is Igor, that alone should strike fear into opposing offenses

Roger, I stand corrected..I haven't really seen the Chargers play a whole lot but from what i have seen their D-line seems pretty solid...I wasn't trying to be a smart arse or anything...:)

Well there goes Ron Brace if they sign Igor...

Igor,Rat,Spears with Hatcher and Bowen spelling..sounds good to me.

If that is the outcome, then sign Igor now. I was never on board with drafting Brace with our first pick.

There are other guys who could provide similar girth & potential production, but on the 2nd day of the draft:

Dorrell Scott 6'4 315 Clemson
Chris Baker 6'2 315 Hampton
Roy Miller 6'1 300 Texas
Sammie Lee Hill 6'4 335 Stillman
Myron Pryor 6'0 310 Kentucky
Nader Abdallah 6'5 315 Ohio St
Louis Ellis 6'2 310 Shaw
John Faletoese 6'3 300 Cal Davis
Khalif Mitchell 6'5 300 E Carolina
Antonio Dixon 6'3 340 Miami
Marlon Favorite 6'0 310 LSU
Rashon Harris 6'3 300 Ore
John Gill 6'3 300 Northwestern

All of these guys were once highly touted, as productive (2 sacks in 2008 - some a little more, some a little less) as Brace.

What has Ron Brace really done, except being BIG? Heck, USC's Fili Moala may be availabe in the 3rd, I'd rather take him over Ron Brace. While Moala is projected as a 3-4 DE, he can easily put on another 10-15 lbs on his lanky 6'4 305 frame. His strength is his burst off the snap and short area quickness, sounds like a NT to me.

As much as I like Canty, and I'm a big fan of his, Igor would be an instant upgrade over him.

As am I.

I don't have the luxury of studying our game film, but neither of our 3-4 DEs in 3 years have made any memorable plays. I understand the position doesn't provide many opportunities to make plays. But I wouldn't mind seeing something special every now and again.

Olshansky is extremely strong. Don't be so sure this move would be to replace Canty player for player. Olshansky played DT at Oregon, as I recall. He is only 308 but he is 6-6 so he could put weight on and not lose much. This may be a move the Cowboys are considering because they see him at NT as opposed to DE.

I don't know.

Hatcher is a good player when on the field, but most of the time he is on the sideline, whenever Dallas find a real coach, and stop giving there money away to yes men they will win.Don't blame TO if he calls those guys out,he should call Jerry out.But I would not call him out if gives me 10 millons a year.
