Julius gives us a glimse of ability too infrequently...it will be a miracle if he were to rush for 1500 or 1600 yards...and he may revert back to getting hurt again like in years past.

I want a consistent player who has proven he can perform under pressure. So far, McFadden looks good...continues to get yards when opposing teams put 9 in the box. But I don't care....give me the best player that is consistent and gives 100% on every play. And this has not been Julius.

In Julius's first year, he should the ability to get yards when teams put everyone in the box, but we all know what happened after that. So before we start going annointing someone our next great RB. Let's not forget what we said just 3 years ago about someone.

I don't see it happening but what if julius goes for like 1500 while splitting time with barber, you guys still want mcfadden?

I would, but I'm sure Jerry's got 2 DE's pegged in the 1st round next year.

It would be sweet if we can land McFadden without having to trade one of our 1sts. Then pick up a receiver like Sweed w/ the last pick of the 1st round.

Cowboys | McFadden may be draft target next season

Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys may go after University of Arkansas RB Darren McFadden in the 2008 NFL Draft, if he declares for the draft. The Cowboys have two first-round picks next year.

Todd Archer is the smartest man alive. :D

Has this guy being living in a Cave???

Jeez, most Boyz fans were thinking McFadden 10 seconds after the trade was announced.

And this guy gets paid to come up with this???

Nothing.

But I for one am hoping he gives us 1500 reasons this year to keep him.

Therefor we won't need to use our picks to move up and get McFadden.

We can use those 2 1st rounders on an actual need like a future #1 WR (if Hurd or Austin can't be that) or a LT (if also needed).

I think it would be very beneficial if we aready had our franchise RB on the team rather then spend greats picks on a new RB.

I think if Jones is to become a elite back he really needs to improve in short yardage, goal line, 3rd and short, that is what Barber has over him right now. IMO. It's an attitude thing.

so if he comes out and plays medicore to sorry, you would still want him? Even if JJ and Barber play good? you would take one person from college, who had a subpar year, and a good year, over proven NFL backs? Hos i thought i knew you better than that?

Julius might put up a decent year this season. But he's an injury prone RB who hasn't shown up his first three years in the NFL. Showing up in a contract doesnt really inspire confidence. No matter what Julius does, he will never be the talent that Darren McFadden is. You don't pass on a guy like that if you get the chance.

Too much can go wrong to get excited about one player for next year. If he's all that with no character issues at the end of next year then think about it. If he can block, pick up blitzes, and catch the ball as well as run then good deal. He'd be a top five pick. If we have to move up will he be worth two players at whatever picks?

I think that's a great point. There will be a lot of high quailty players available. link

Heck, you'll probably be able to get Steve Slaton and Felix Jones for the price of McFadden.

Just remember, this time last year plenty of people were speculating about trading up to #1 overall to land Brady Quinn and Marcus McCauley and Alan Branch were viewed as top five picks.

Don't look at this as "slow journalism", but possibly more as a tool being used in the aquisition of McFadden by the Cowboy Propaganda Machine. I don't know how this works, but I'd think it would be highly illegal for us to go directly to McFadden and tell him to declare early for the draft. I'm sure we'll be hearing these "hints" being dropped all the way between here and the next draft, just to continue showing McFadden that we are for real and very serious.
