ORLANDO, Fla. -- In his seven NFL seasons, Jeremy Mincey can be best described as a good player on the field, but inconsistent off it.

The Cowboys signed Mincey as a potential starter at defensive end, but last season in Jacksonville there were issues.

Mincey wasn't allowed to travel to to a road game at Houston for violating team rules and he was deactivated for another game for missing meetings. Mincey told reporters he was distracted with a new baby and starting a business.

Mincey wasn't using it as an excuse, but just dealing with his issues. Eventually things became too much for the Jags and they released him and he was later picked up by Denver.

That's just stupid. Somebody slap Mincey for me if you see him around somewhere. Tell him it's from "Idgit."

Not doubting that he's a good person, but this has to be a concern. Starting a business? You're being counted on by the team, and you're well compensated to focus on that job. Us "normal" people wouldn't start a business and operate it to the point that it caused such a distraction that our "day job" employer needed to take action against us. Hope he matures.

Starting a business...

Well, Jerry can certainly relate in more ways than one.

Its a welcome excuse for not doing well at your real/primary job!

The proverbial slap was when the Jags released him. And I believe he was late for the meetings and that he didn't necessarily "miss" them. Bad enough though.

Ehh who cares....fans expect football players to be robots who only care about football. Silly him for trying to be a responsible Dad and setting up a life after football to continue to take of that family.

That and I don't think Mincey is good enough to really make a fuss about anyway

It's probably fairly easy to get wrapped up in complacency when you play for an organization like Jacksonville.

He won't be able to get complacent here.

This.

I'm not sure why anybody is upset.

So what we have is a guy that just lost his head outside the lines.

Like that never happens on this team.

Just ask Romo..

ask him if the word Cabo..

means anything to him.?

Another guy who doesn't think well all the time and let's his personal life interfere with his professional life..

Hey..we got room for one more..no prob.

As long as the business being started isn't to take the place of Sam Hurds then I'm ok with it

He will have plenty of time to lose all his money once he retires.
