Cowboys need offensive boost even with Romo

I like Elliot but I love the idea of Devontrae Booker in the 2nd round. Put him with McFadden, Dunbar and a bigger RB that can bang away between the tackles and the position is a strength overnight.

I haven't really followed Gordon and know he is super talented, but isn't he kind of a knucklehead?

I don't want to continue to rely on McFadden here. I think he would be even better with Romo, but I want that true franchise running back.

Gordon is a huge knucklehead, but he could probably be signed for a song, and combined with Bryant they would be difficult to stop, especially with Romo passing the ball.

Our pass rush was anemic WITH hardy, and now we're going to let him go? .

Also if Hardy returns its likely to be a contract slanted toward incentives. If you look at the FAs (like Jerry Hughes and Jared Allen) who signed in FA for the last two offseasons, none of them got more then 4.4MM a year in guaranteed money and most had at least 50% of the contract structured as incentives. Hardy played this year on a contract that was 95% incentives, he is unlikely to take up a 10 Million dollar bite unless he puts up superior stats and earns the money.

You would think from the lack of a passing game that the oline is not pass blocking well... But if you watch... They really are doing enough and the QB(s) have had enough time.... We just can not seem to : scheme the WRs to get open, see and hit them while they are open, take the check down because they are afraid of turning it over or just don't have the long range accuracy.

Now I am not talking every time... But you watch and more times than you think, they are giving the QB enough time.

Now the run game has been different but I think that is a product of the defenses not respecting this Motley crew of QBs so they just load up the box.

Weeden did target the WR's today so maybe you are right.

You've allocated a certain percentage of your overall resources to Dez, when he doesn't produce, the teams investment in him becomes a ballast. Where you now have to rely on less talented players to play well above their salaries.

Our pass rush was anemic WITH hardy, and now we're going to let him go? Not sure that is going to improve the pass rush, though I do agree we need to make sure we get a top wide receiver to pair with Bryant. If we get Jeffery, I'd try to move Williams for a 4th or 5th. He does have some production on the league. If we got Josh Gordon, I would keep Williams as our 4th receiver in case he implodes here as well.

I see where you are coming from...I just don't like the position that allocating a certain percentage of your resources in Dez (who you admit produces) is a bad thing yet allocating the same percentage of your resources to Hardy who hasn't produced is a good thing. They blew it big time paying Crawford. I'm not sure if a lack of available funds was a huge factor in who we rolled out on offense this year. It could have been but I don't know if we would have done anything different if we would have saved Dez's money and spent it on other offensive players....can you remember any serious WR, RB, QB, threats that were available this past offseason?

I don't get the offense...fantastic o-line (minus Free), HOF TE in Witten and Escobar is pretty good, All-Pro talent in Dez, decent number two in Williams, and a top 6 QB.

I don't understand how this staff couldn't get production out of all that talent on the O. Maybe the play calling is too conservative, the execution underwhelming, too many penalties and too undisciplined. Maybe it's just the staff. Maybe.

They just need to draft some better RB's and add a vet WR. They really missed Dunbar this season, without him we were really lacking for speed.

The WR corps is almost impossible to judge this year. The QB play has been terrible consistently, topped out at average outside of Romo. Dez, I'm beginning to think, was never right. Williams, I think, showed that he's a #2 but can't step up at all. Street is the one I'm fairly sure of, he seems slow with bad hands, that spells useless. Butler is an incomplete because we haven't seen enough. Beasley is a failure this year because I don't think the backups understood how to use him consistently. Witten is old and slow and still gets open consistently. the other TE aren't pass catching options in our offense really. The line is good over all, free could use an upgrade but I don't think he's terrible.

TONS of drops this year, by everyone. I'm not impressed with Derek Dooley. He needs to go with Wade Wilson.

In the Cowboys Scheme you have to be able to beat people one on one, mono e mono, man on man consistently. Consistently beating your man on Offense, that isn't happening enough with the complimentary players including Escobar plus Dez has a lot of trouble vs the best DBs.

I would like to see a veteran WR free agent added in the off season. One to teach the youngsters and young at mind (bryant) how to run routes and learn the right way.

Almost everything in this offense is to the sidelines, we need some speed to be able to attack the deep middle of the field. That would also make it harder for teams to double our outside WRs so much. Neither Witten or Beasley scare anyone with their speed in the middle of the field.

We should come out of this draft with a running back and a wide receiver in the first three picks. I would probably look to trade Terrance Williams.

Some good points, specifically the need to fortify the offense with a stud #2 WR and RB, but I wouldn't put it all on the first 3 rounds of the draft since we have desperate needs on defense as well,,, free agency will need to play a big part this offseason.
