Cowboys need to give up a 1st and 3rd for Marcus McNeil?

Do you remember what happened the last time we gave up a 1st and a 3rd? People haven't gotten over it yet.

What do you as the fans think about this? Marcus McNeil @ RT?

he better be Eric Williams and Larry Allen rolled into one for that much.

I was listening to GAC today and they had on a San Diego reporter who was close to the situation. He basically said that the Chargers want to get McNeill signed and hopefully ready to go in the next week and that Vincent Jackson is a goner. They really like Marcus and want him to stay.

He said the only way he goes is if it's for a 1st and 3rd, which is what is original tender offer was.

No way i would do that. I like him but that's just too much.

Are you kidding me? NO! nobody gives up close to that in trades anymore. other than GM Jerry. did the trade for Roy not teach you anything?

Well, quality of each trade/post keeps getting better and better doesn't it? We got plenty genious GMs/Coaches on this board,.:laugh2:

1st and 3rd is crazy stupid. I would not do that. I would offer them a 2nd and Roy and be done with it. If they take it, then I'd figure out a way to make that deal work. If not, then I wouldn't do it.

I doubt Jerry shells out the bucks to pay for TWO left tackles next season. He might pay for one LT (Free) and FA vet for the interior, but not two tackles.

And I am a big fan of McNeil's.

Roy and a 2? Nuts. Don't you know Roy's worth a 1 and 3 all by his own self!

I wouldn't break the bank, though, with Columbo coming back and Sam Young looking like a future starter. Maybe a 3 for McNeil with potential upgrade to 2 given certain conditions.

The only way you would even consider giving up a 1 and 3 is if you needed him to play LT, which we don't with Free. Teams generally don't spend 1st round picks on RT's so I don't see this trade happening.

Too steep for a guy who has a history of back problems, needs a contract and will probably have to play left tackle to justify the money. A second is about the breaking point for him and I'd hate to have to shuffle Doug Free to right tackle.

I'd probably do a 2nd and 3rd or a 3,4,5 for him. I think he's THAT good. No way on the 1st+3rd though. He's 26 which is still fairly young for a good tackle...I sure would've liked to had him Sunday night man.

The problem with a 3 is that it's likely that it will not be a high 3. We are good enough to make the playoffs. We may not be good enough to win a championship. If we offer a 3, it's likely to be a low 3 and I think another team might be in a better position. I think it has to be a 2.

I wouldn't...Free is an excellent RT and I don't like the idea of my LT being vunerable to the Bullrush.

very SERIOUSLY consider it..

As a matter of fact, if I where Jerrah, I'd like to hear arguments against it to convince me NOT to do it.

McNeil would be the LT and Free would be moved back to RT. Those positions would be set for the next 10 years.
