Cowboys new practice facility 1.5 billion

I don't understand how that place could ever be profitable after investing that much money into it. Those kind of numbers are s bit confusing for the average man.

By the time the 91-acre site is fully developed, the Cowboys estimate the project will cost $1.5 billion. AT&T Stadium, which opened in 2009, cost $1.2 billion.

“It's four times the financial commitment that I might have thought it would be when we started,” owner and general manager Jerry Jones said, adding, “I was so excited over our stadium, AT&T Stadium, all the things we'd done there in Arlington. And I really didn't have as much mustard, or as much want-to, about another huge project or another huge investment of this kind. This just totally has blown me away in terms of what we can do, the visibility, the tying it in the football, athletics, then regular athletics. This area will be a template and an example far beyond Frisco, all over the country, of an example of [Tony] Romo walking off on Thursday, Friday practicing and then high school quarterbacks coming in to play football, side by side, talking to each other about the game tonight. I can see that.”

Always makes me laugh when I hear the "Jerry is cheap now" comments.

The Cowboys practice facility itself is $350B. The entire complex with the hotel and adjacent buildings is $1.5B. The project is part of a bigger project named The $5 Billion Mile, which will stretch a mile long along the Dallas Tollway in Frisco.

Source: I have written several stories about it for Bisnow

So the new practice facility is opening up soon, and the final cost will be around 1.5 billion. How bout dem Cowboys ! One thing about the boys, we aren't some second tier franchise. Whatever the boys do, they do it big!

Amazing. Between the new facility and Zeke we should be top 5 in defense this year. Pass rush fixed!!!

It's a damn shame I had to miss it, but they actually had an event yesterday at the half-finished site, where Roger and Drew (Pearson) talked about 'the catch' and tossed the ball around. They went over final numbers for the facility as well as who/what all it would accommodate.

Too bad the stadium is no home field advantage

Agreed, but that's not because there isn't enough folks in the stadium. More of a problem of what kind of "fans" are showing up at the games. I gaurantee I wouldn't be able to talk the next day if I had a chance to go to a game. I lived in DFW for a few years most recently, they're are a lot of fans that take going to games for granted. What I like to call fair weather fans. The Staduim isn't responsible for making noise, the fans are.

So it's the same price as the stadium?

It is not just one building, it is like 2 practice fields, football field that seats 15,000, office building, Plaza and other things.
There is a website floating around. Will look when I get a chance

Jerry ( the owner/ business man) is the best in the business. We can debate his GM track record, but as an owner he is elite.

I heard they are selling subscriptions to watch practices from an air-conditioned club on the second level of an adjacent building.......only Jerry- the greatest show on Earth

It will have a 5 star hotel and tons of retail shops paying high rents and probably a percentage of profits. The 12,000 seat stadium will probably host 3-5 events a week on average. There are thousands of shows, events, concerts, etc traveling the country looking for that size arena. It will be another cash cow for the Cowboys and the city. Does any other team have a practice facility that could host major national events and big time concerts?

I still think practicing in the stadium we play in is beneficial.
