Dez reminds me of my kids when they were little. Before they grew up. And by grew up I mean turned 5.

It really is funny watching this take because I guarantee we are going to see the exact same people making this exact same take in a year when it is time to pay Parsons has the highest paid defender in football. Parsons is going to get that deal and everyone knows it but there are still going to be people arguing he does not deserve it.
Major pass rusher trumps CB any day and twice on Sunday.

Wasn’t he the interception leader 2 years ago and last year he did pretty well also didn’t he? Is it so easy to find someone to take his place when they’re this close to having a team that might be able to win it all? And comparing our careers to theirs, how many of us work in a full contact office where you can have your career ruined with one injury. Or better yet suffer dementia at the end of the career and not want to get paid according to our skills while in said field?

I don’t have a problem at all with players wanting guaranteed contracts. I’m just not paying top coin for a guy that pulls some ish like in my avi in a playoff game.

The NFL has gone to crap imo. Watered down. Cuts the legs off the well managed teams to try and boost the lower class teams in the name of "parity", yet there as many lower class teams as there ever has been. You MIGHT be able to have a dynasty run if you hit on a great QB, who is willing to work with management to fill in the supporting cast AND you have great coaching. Otherwise it is, at best, short term cycles of up and down. The current system is set up entirely to make money. It's basically Reality TV.

I already stated an approach to avoid teams being "lower class" from a financial/spending perspective. That, combined with revenue sharing, eliminates the "small market" excuse that was a major driver for the cap when it began. You will always have those teams that are lower class because of poor management. Obviously, a cap does nothing to raise those teams, nor does an uncapped league. (It's my turn to not understand your perspective)

I haven't taken the time to sit down and come up with "exactly" how it would work, and it doesn't necessarily have to be completely uncapped. I am certain that there are options to both keep player movement opportunities unhindered while creating a dynamic that allows teams the opportunity to be rewarded for their good drafting/management by making it possible for them to more easily sign draft picks to that second and third contract.

The salary cap to football is like the accounting department to a design and engineering company. The designers and engineers (coaches/GMs) come up with the best plan for success then accountants (salary cap) get hold of it and reduce it to a somewhat workable shell of what it could have been.
From somebody who’s first live is English football(soccer) I’ve seen what happens when you have no cap and it stinks. Two teams in England have been bought by countries and one by a Russian oligarch as his play thing. Nobody can compete with a country when it comes wages and transfers so they are just dominating the premier league and Europe in fact they won 3 trophies last season and that’s only ever been done once before in over a hundred years. There’s literally only 2/3 teams each season that win win the title and at the mo I can’t see anybody taking it off Man City as they are so strong. Add in there’s no draft it’s virtually impossible for a smaller time to win the title. I’m 50 and it’s only ever happened once in my life.
There are caps in Europe but they are not the same for all the teams as they are based on turn over so the wealthy owners just cheat by inflating sponsorship deals from their other companies to give the team more money.
The nfl have it right and that’s why you get so many different teams winning the SB.

Could be, but I guarantee the old timers at the time were complaining because it wasn't the same. Just as we're doing now.
I just watched an old cartoon. I believe it was a Merry Melodies and the title was Football: Now and Then.
And what did it feature? Old guys complaining about "modern football" and how it's not the same. It's wimpy ball now!

This was made in 1953.

Yup. Every generation complains ad nauseum about the upcoming generations.

It seems absurdly disappointing that Diggs foolishly chose to be equally as demanding as his brother.

It appears birds of a feather really do flock together. No wonder the FO is thinking of letting him leave.

Bro, I will never understand our countries blind allegiance and fascination with the super wealthy. We literally vote for and stick up for the Uber wealthy over our own interests. Even down to sports. The last stoppage was a lock out and everyone ripped the players as being "greedy". Could you imagine in your line of work... you come to work one day and there are locks on the door and signs saying "go home" because your boss shut everything down and everyone calling you greedy. I'll never understand

No, because then I'd say the game gradually got worse since I started watching. I've been watching since the early to mid 70s.

What usually happens to these sports is that the owners want what makes them the most money. That doesn't always coincide with what's better for the game.

what about all the players that play for 1.5 mil or less? dont they run the same risks you mention?
Nobody cares about them, just the stars who already make the most money.

Diggs needs to be traded. That guy is the perfect next really bad contract. Plan to franchise him, draft CB high next year, and/or trade him because he is not worth a big contract.
I tend to agree with this school of thought. Diggs is a good CB but his salary will be all out of whack with his contribution.
