It's very simple...Parsons deserves a big contract and will get one. Diggs, not so much. Interceptions are just one factor in playing the position of CB.
Well said. Everyone else must have forgotten the many times he's gotten burnt, and his whiffs (or total not trying) on tackles.

Stadiums are full and ratings are through the roof. NFL has not gone to crapp. Only to us old timers who want things the way they used to be. (Me too).

The cap does a ton to raise those teams. I'm really not understanding why you think it doesn't.

I think the NFL should do something similar to the NBA, where you can pay your FA's the most, and can go over the cap w/ no penalty to pay your own.

I cannot agree that any business is like a pro sports business. It's not even apples and oranges, it's more like blue whales and fleas.
From a business standpoint, yes, the NFL is doing better than ever. I'm looking at from the fan\consumer perspective.

I know nothing about the NBA system, but If I'm understanding you correctly it sounds very similar to what I'm suggesting for the NFL.

You're listing the reasons they won't change anything. That doesn't mean it makes the game better. Burger King makes a ton of money, but their product is still garbage.

I think it is very similar.

Young fans want high octane passing games and lots of TD's. It's only tiresome to us old dudes.

Oh, absolutely. We weren't talking about making the game better. That's an entirely different matter. However, to the young fans, it is better. Unfortunately.

I agree, they try to draw in the casual fan. Another reason is, the game is still good to those that haven't seen any better. I think the game quality peaked somewhere between the mid 80s through the 90s.

Could be, but I guarantee the old timers at the time were complaining because it wasn't the same. Just as we're doing now.

I think the FO will award Martin at least a respectable token of his worth -- even if it's not anything resembling a blockbuster deal in any way.

Dez Bryant has become a major pain in the butt! He needs to keep his mouth shut. Nowadays, he bashes Dak and the Dallas Cowboys incessantly.
Stilll the idiot that I never could stand. Dude could've been a HOFer, but insisted on jogging his routes when his number wasn't called. Yes, I saw it several times during games. They focused the cameras on his lack of effort more than once.

He's always been a big mouth embarrassment. Super embarrassing when he would create a scene during games yelling on the sidelines at Romo, Witten, coaches and other players. He's been doing it ever since on Twitter since being forced to retire since nobody has wanted anything to do with him in recent years.

This is going to be the extension that drags out and probably becomes contentious thru the media...

It was no accident that a player of his talent level was even available late in the 1st round.

Dez isn't nearly as important in terms of his opinions as he'd like folks to believe. He's never known enough to keep his lame opinions to himself. Some things never change. The self-awarded version of his worth has always been highly exaggerated. He eventually became as much of a distraction as he ever was as a valued player. The fact that he couldn't catch on with another team after his departure from the NFL tells it all. Buyer beware.

There's only one thing missing in that suggestion....... incentive.
If a player receives a large guaranteed sum of money, it reduces the incentive needed to produce full effort.
That's the one thing many seem to forget when it comes to large guaranteed salaries, the lack of incentive.
Every other league seems to do just fine. Football is the one league where players actually deserve guaranteed contracts given the life long effects of playing the sport and they're the only ones that don't get that financial security.
