I can't say with absolute certainty, but I would think that it means they're upping their offer. And that's why he's specifically said they wouldn't give up a first rounder.

The current leadership on this team has gone toward a more shrewd and tough decision making approach. By offering a 2nd for earl thomas they are essentially giving the team a 2-3 year window of all pro safety play. Thomas gives us leadership and makes this defense a potential top 5 d. With an offense that won't turn the ball over and places emphasis on the run it definitely would make us a tough team to play

That being said if seattle is hoping for a first they are crazy, and we would be just as crazy to give it to them. If i'm dallas i'd call them up be like we'll do it today for a 2nd. I really can't see Dallas offering more than a 3rd rounder. His contract is up after this year. He is going to want top money next year, 3 or 4 year contract. It goes against everything Dallas has been doing of late, we going to pay big bucks for an aging veteran that may not complete his contract?

Dallas has too many holes to fill. Dallas will not make the playoffs this year. Wait until next year, keep the 2nd rounder, and sign ET in free agency if contract is not exorbitant.
