Cowboys officially franchise Dez Bryant - Post #91

Yeah that's probably right. I hope they seal the deal. The guy bleeds silver and blue.

I wouldnt go that far. I would say Tyron Smith bleeds silver and blue. Dez is more about Green. In all reports about this, its being reported Dallas was close to a deal before Dez fired Eugene Parker. And Roc nation used them negotiations as a starting point and going up from there in their dealings with the Cowboys. Thats whats being reported as why Jerry got upset. Instead of dealing with the 114mil and working around the details of that, that was Roc nations starting price and went up from there. Thats why there had been no communication between the team and his agents. Im guessing Condon removing himself from Roc is now working with the team on a common ground now. Im for one thats glad Dallas stood its ground so far and isnt willing to cripple the future for Dez.

You wouldn't trade him for a chance at another Mike Jenkins and Felix Jones haul?
Cup is half full this time around........
With McClay on board odds are it could end up being some serious franchise building blocks at whatever position

Makes sense. Just gets frustrating when you play the waiting game for other deals to ensure you're getting paid the most. I get that it's a business.

complete business...when your an agent of a top 3 player for a new contract, you want to recruit others by saying you got the player the best contract. I dont think the cowboys will balk at 13/yr, 14/yr or 15/yr at the end. They likely also wont balk at $30-40M guaranteed. If they really want dez for life, then willing to tag him for 2 years, that's $28M, then he's 28 and likely gets a $30M guaranteed deal anyway.

If the reports are accurate that the deal only included around $20M in guaranteed money, then he has every right to say no to that deal ESPECIALLY when lesser WR are getting that much guaranteed and more. When you are EASILY one of the Top 3 WR in the game, you deserve WAY MORE than Mike Wallace's $27M.

And Mike Wallace is being asked to take a paycut. Knowing that Dez still needs to be babysitted by Dallas' security after 2 yrs, i cant fault Dallas for trying to protect themselves. Can you? What he does on the field is great, but knowing he still needs security with him 24 hrs a day, are you mad Dallas is playing it cautious?

I wouldve loved to hear the conversations of the team when Dez tweeted dont test my loyalty lol. I bet you some of the people in the organization couldnt help but laugh.

Perhaps Dallas' security is babysitting Dez (to what extent I don't know), but the fact of the matter is that Dez hasn't really done anything egregious the past couple offseasons. Maybe I'm just stupidly optimistic, but I think Dez has turned a corner and matured. I'd pay him right now, but then again I'm not the GM.

He hasnt because the security is with him 24 hrs a day. And are with him on away games. they never leave his side.

Ok every team is obviously constructed differently. Top 3 may be a "luxery" but you should have a damn good receiver. Seattle and NE are clear exceptions

2009-Pitt-- Holmes perhaps not "elite" but damn good at that point in time
2010-N.O.-- Marques Colston
2011--GB- Greg Jennings/Jordy Nelson
2012--NYG--Cruz/Nicks
2013-Balt--Torrey Smith-

So Baltimore and Seattle have proved that an elite defense and an offense capable of getting hot can win. Tom Brady is Tom Brady.

That just proves you do not need a megatron or equivalent. So technically since most agree Dez is at that level or close to it, evidence shows that you do not NEED one to get a ring.

Howsomever, you MIGHT need one to GET to the big dance. Except for a very stupidly written rule (and its equally stupid interpretation) we would have been playing for the NFC championship because of a play by that same elite WR.

Do remember that all our SB winning Boys teams had a HOF WR (or should be as in the case of Pearson).

Dez bleeds blue and silver and green. No fault in that.

So, this stops the clock running toward losing the tag option.

But, what happens if a team like New England decides they will pony up the two firsts for Dez? Does Dallas have a right of refusal?

Why would New England give up anything to anyone? They don't need talent. All that they need to do is cheat.

I would give him guarantee money of 35-40 million but with stipulations that if he messes up off field or on field he will not get some of it. If the Cowboys are concern about his character flaws maybe they can put these stipulations in. They may have already put them in but no the Me knows.

Think there will be roster bonuses yearly. And i would never give a WR anywhere near that much guaranteed money. Thats LT and QB type money.

Your right but I think he is a top 3 receiver in the leagu and I think that Wallace or V Jackson got something 27.5 million guaranteed so I was just going off of that.

Would like that number alot more.

Dez is set to make 28m over the next 2 years with the Franchise tag and that is the amount I would guarantee.

I would give him a 7/88m deal with 28m guarantee and 15m signing bonus. That is a real money deal not one of those fake agent feels good deals.
