If both Lee and Hitchen are 100% by the next game, then the team will have a great chance to win some games.

The only other major issue is 1-tech DT. Price has flashed but he is inexperienced. It probably wouldn't be that hard to trade for a veteran run stopper if they don't think Price can handle it.

The 1-tech usually only plays about half the snaps or less because they use two 3-techs in passing situations.

They're already giving a lot of snaps to Woods/Frazier and Awuzie when healthy. They can manage with a combination of Heath and those three to pair with Jones.

On offense the OL has been getting better and Cooper seems to function better within the scheme than Green. La'el is finding his way at RT.

They probably need to give Butler a few more opportunities.

I'm curious if Rico will return this season. He might provide a receiving threat that Hanna/Swaim can't but I'm not counting on it.

They ran the ball well in 2015 with McFadden and that was with no threat at QB. They should be able to win some games with McFadden/Morris if Zeke is out. Maybe use Mc

At this point..Hitch and Bowman are on similar levels.

I wanted Bowman just to have more depth at the position especially if Lee’s hamstring keeps bothering him but he is not an All Pro player anymore and he would be rotating anyways.

I want to be an optimist here, but we have so many issues on both sides of the ball. We should beat the 49ers, but even with Lee and Hutch, and a pinch of luck, this game could go either way, even with them playing a rookie QB.

I'm with you X. I'm 100 times more worried about the one tech spot than any other position. Price just doesn't cut it for me. He has size, but that's pretty much it. I really hope we address this spot. For years we've mishandled this area. When we were in 3-4 we used an undersized (IMO) Ratliff and then we couldn't let go of Heydon for whatever reason while Jernigan, McClain, and Harrisonfind their way onto an NFC East team.

Lol Bowman and Hitch are not on the same level. Bowman will always be levels about Hitch

Having Lee on the field makes this defense much better. Hitchens is a bonus.

I think we see marked impovement this weekend..

I think most, when speculating about how we'd use them, assumed Hitch would replace Bowman on passing downs. And that's a big part of the game.

I'm with you on all of this. Will be interesting to see what they might get out of a Irving/Collins pairing at DT on run downs. If it's at all stable, it gives us a lot of flexibility on rush downs.

I'd give Swaim some of Hanna's offensive snaps. He might be a better target in the passing game right now.

And Butler definitely needs more snaps at WR, given the connection he seems to have with Dak. Time to stop playing around on offense. We need big plays.

I'd also like to see Switzer get some more offensive snaps if Elliott is out. Maybe in the hurry-up if we can get the right defensive personnel out there on the field.

Why do people talk about Hitchens as if he's some jag? Dude can play. He'd probably start on 20 teams TBH

It's 100% a carryover from a big debate we had when he was drafted and Risen et al. insisted the guy couldn't play and was garbage before he ever stepped foot on the field. As it turns out the guy could actually play, and then that he applied himself and got better and better as he worked at it until be became first a starter, and then one of our better defensive starters the only option was to pretend he's getting overrated. When the reality is he's just a very solid, very versatile dude with his head on right who will play through injury if you let him.

I agree that he'd start on 2/3rds of the teams out there, too.
