Cowboys overall performance over the last decade

I don't know if that's sad or good......because the playoff record is nowhere like that smh.

Shocked Romo's is that low. Felt like we won mostly when he was healthy......
Playoff's are against the top 3rd of the league.

Consistently having a 10-6 season over a career is impressive.

I recall fans be made at Danny White - .669 is impressive.

How have the Cowboys performed over the last decade (from 2015-24) in some of the most important measurements like regular season wins, playoff appearances, and playoff wins?

Here’s how we measured up in the last decade from 2015-2024:
  • Regular season wins and losses: 93-71 (.567)
  • Won the NFC East 4 times: 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
  • Playoff appearances: 5 times: 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023.
  • Did not qualify for the playoffs: 5 times: 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2024
  • Playoff record last decade: 2-5 : Wins in WC round, 2018 and 2022, losses in WC or divisional round 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023. (.285)
Overall, we won about 56% of our regular season games and 29% of our playoff games. We qualified for the playoffs 50% of the time, and won the division 40% of the time. We never earned the right in the playoffs to be one of the best two teams in the conference.

When I look at the Cowboys over the last decade I see a team that is above average in the regular season, makes the playoffs about 50% of the time and does not perform well in the playoffs. We have been a top 6-8 team in the league at times but not better than that.

Anything else?
Yes, Jerry and Stephen often remind us how great they are….if you don’t count the playoffs.

Nope, that about covers it Bob.
The remaining spin doctors here with all their regular season winning percentage praise BS to follow.

But your OP message is right on point.

These are and have been your SAME Dallas Cowboys for at least the last 10 years now.

And I'm sure further research would reveal similar type stats if looked into another 10 years back as well.

The more that things change, the more they stay the same around here.

Cowboys!

Seems like the team isn't ready in the playoffs. Its weird, they just don't seem to be that fired up...I've always thought that and think coaching plays a role.......

I believe our 10 year "decent" regular season has been artificially better because of Washington and NY being so terrible for most of those years.

What's our win loss if you take those 4 games a year out over the 10 years?

I suspect sub .50.
You can't cherry pick.

A quick Google and I believe we are 30-10 against Washington and NY last 10 years.

That means we are 63 -61 against everyone else. That's an average team if ever I saw one.
Geez, talk about beating up on the weaklings...
How did Mountain put it?
That's right, facts don't care about feelings.

LOL
Cowboys!

As far as wins and losses you nailed it. Usually good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to go further. We all know this. We’re reminded of it every day here.

If it makes anyone feel better, when Dak is the QB he is 78-51, a .605 percentage. Among all the QB's likely to start Day One, here is how the Top Ten in winning percentage stack up:

Mahomes 106-27, .797
Jackson 73-29, .716
Daniels 14-6, .700 (small sample size though)
Hurts 52-23, .693
Allen 83-40, .675
Purdy 27-15, .643 (smallish sample size though)
Dak 78-51, .605
Wilson 130-85-1, .604
Tua 38-25, .603
Goff 85-57-1, .598
Mahomes is a freak and so is Jackson. In a league of their own with the edge to Mahomes. He’s the Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant of the NFL.

11-1 vs those teams over the famous “twelve win” years.
Even Garrett was 28-11 vs those teams in his career.

Anyone still wondering why Jerry and kid think they are better than they are, and why they get smacked come playoff time?

That about sums it up. As boring of a resume as I can envision. Never bad enough to reshape their team with a top draft pick, but never good enough to be a real player.

We're like the NFC version of the Chargers. Do you ever really fear the Chargers? No. Sure, they'll throw up some 10+ win seasons some, but you know they'll collapse in the playoffs....so you really don't care about them.

Once that the Cowboys discovered that winning Super Bowls is extremely difficult, they opted to coast. That's been their story ever since Jimmy Johnson left the team. That's a long time for a team to coast, but it's really hard to ignore a record that they've established for decades. They thrive on past glories.

We have never been a complete team in the past decade.
I don’t believe we have had a playoff defense even once. We have not had a defense that could stop the run, not once. We have had a pass rush that allowed us to dominate weaker teams while playing with a lead, but in the playoffs, the defense could not stop the run, which also weakened the pass rush.

Offense? Sometimes the OL (left tackle) was a huge problem. Sometimes WR was the weak link. Recently, both OL and RB were the weak link. Sometimes our best and only legitimate QB was injured. But always….always the defense was never a playoff defense.

It's almost like a scientific experiment with Jerry we stay just good enough to keep the carrot dangling in front of the fans and keep their hopes up but not so good that he has to overspend and go all in and take the chance it's not going to work out.

Jerry is like a mad scientist when it comes to generating revenue and he does it better than anyone else and by looking at those facts and figures he does just enough to keep himself in the maximum money making mode without completely destroying the fans hope.
We are thrown just enough of a bone just enough times to keep us hopeful and following the team.
