Was there any doubt we wouldn't? His next contract will be the true question. Luckily, Bell's contract lowers the market a bit.

Honestly, I think they might just tag him for a few years and then move on. It would not surprise me at all Avery.

It was always an option since he was drafted but they picked it up last week

Right, but a lot of people said that the Cowboys would draft him, use the 5th year option and then franchise him for a few years rather then resign him. A lot of people said that even before he was drafted. That's what I was saying. A lot of people predicted it then so yeah, that's been the theory by a lot of folks for a long time.

He'll never play under it. He'll hold out until he gets a big extension.
The 5th year option means his rookie deal is #3 in the entire NFL for RB Total Guaranteed and #1 (yes #1) for fully guaranteed.........

Top 5 pick rookie contract kinda screws DE and QB but its actually VERY GOOD for players like Zeke.

Zero chance he holds out. He's basically the highest paid player at his position and the worst case scenario is they don't sign him and he's a freaking free agent at ONLY 24 years old.......

We picked up the option on this fat/in shape leading rusher/over rated carefree/idiot?!

Did I miss anything?

Yeah....All this means is he gonna be a one contract player. Probably tag him in year 6....then let him walk...and take the comp pick. Sucks that we will only get 6 years out of a top 5 pick.

Only leaves us with 84m for next year before roll-over and cuts
Everyone was freaking out about how we didn't have enough money to sign the big 5 and we now have two under contract for next year and will still be near 100 million with restructures and cap rise (plus the 3 that aren't signed have the possibility to be lower cap hits year 1).

Three if you count JSmith getting a RFA Tender next year
