Cowboys Playing Chess with the Eagles

Exactly.

Which makes this article by Walker bizarre as hell. Walker's point seems to be that McCarthy bucked some sort of movement or common sense decision to bench players starting in Week 16 and in doing so, he played "chess" in forcing the Eagles to have to play starters (including Hurts) in their last game.

But it's a dumb point. Because no coach would have started benching starters in Week 16 if they still had a shot at home field. There's nothing special or brilliant or wise or ingenius here by McCarthy.
Walker is an idiot

I don't think it's dumb. Resting players does not ensure victories. They are paid to play; maybe the NFL shouldn't have them playing so many games. Besides, the Cowboys have proven that theory to be false. So have the Packers.

No, resting players ensures they don't get hurt in a meaningless game. Hence why teams do this.

It ain't rocket science. And no one should be surprised if Daboll benchs key starters or only plays them for a bit in the game. Accept our fate, we are likely the 5 seed.

Ensuring victory is not the name of the game. It's giving yourself the best fighting chance in a game that's way more important. If you can guarantee your best players being on the field in the most important games of the year you take that all day, every day. Sure, they could get injured in the playoff game itself but you dang sure want to make sure they start. And if you have nothing to play for anymore, there's no need to unnecessarily risk their health after you've had a long season already.

Yes, let’s make this a Dak thread when he wasn’t mentioned once in the OP. Makes perfect sense.

I feel a little better about this site after seeing 18 people like your comment compared to only 3 from that ignorant and uncalled for comment.

40 years huh that's a better run than me I'm at 32 I think?? The last one I missed Cowboys at Packers in 91 when the Cowboys beat them when the game was played in Wisconsin.
We talked about this on the old site. Are used to have those 8 foot satellite dishes. Remember them.

Well seeing as how this is a Dallas thread why is a Philly thread being started?
Idk ask the OP. All I know is usually when a thread is about one topic, the replies tend to be posted for that topic. Heck, even posting about the stupidity of the thread (if that’s how you feel) is technically on-topic.

Article isn’t about just about Philly by the way it’s about how the Cowboys and Eagles are influencing eachother. Seems like a pretty normal thread.

Very good comment, so many are hesitant to face off against playoff quality teams in the playoffs. Well, you don't make a statement without beating the team that has had your number in recent games.
Very good post...it makes you really wonder what the reason is people are so nervous about facing quality opponents. Now mind you, this is not a dak hate answer, but would people be as nervous if we had,a Brady, Rodgers,Mahomes,Burrow type QB heading into the playoffs? Even with our spotty defense,I'd bet the answer would be no..jmo

So I gave it a day, maybe realizing I missed something with this article.

Nah. It's still stupid as hell.
