If you're watching the Cowboys version of the Broadcast, I would be interested to know how people feel about the Broadcast with Babe.

If people don't like it, I wonder if there is a way to send feedback to the Cowboys.

I've watched a few other preseason games (non-Cowboys) and I thought their broadcast was much better.

Babe likes to drone on about things that happened in the past and he likes to talk about the QBs. His crew does not seem to have much knowledge of the roster in general and which players are in contention for roster spots, etc.. It did help last week to have Daryl Johnston on the broadcast, but Babe and Bill Jones tend steer him away from meaningful dialog. Johnston seemed to know the roster better than Babe and Jones.

Babe also gives out misleading information. I remember Byron Jones was covering a WR and the WR blatantly pushed off. Babe and crew didn't notice because he was already on a diatribe about how rookies get beat.

Another issue is that they are consistently late returning to the action and miss the the snap. It's difficult to see what OLinemen and DLinemen are doing when the play is already in progress when the broadcast switches back to it.

They also like to interview people while the game is in progress and put both shots on screen significantly reducing the size of the game view.

IMO, a big reason the games are boring is because of the Broadcast. If the broadcasters have no interest in the game and no interest in the down the line players, then it's hard to make the broadcast interesting.

I've often complained about Broaddus reporting false information; however, I listened to him on the radio Broadcast with Brad Sham once and that was WAY better than the TV broadcast.

I think during the regular season when Babe is on the radio, Brad reels him in and makes him somewhat palatable but when he is on TV he really wants to be funny and clever and loses sight of the fact that a game is being played.

It's preseason games and I expect they will not follow every play or they interview players on the sidelines and just completely not call what is going on on the field and so on.

And it can be annoying...However I have seen just as many other announcing teams for other football teams do similar styles. I think you probably just pay attention more to the Cowboys team.

I will tell you this...whether babe and crew are bad or not, I will take them 100% time over the home crews for other teams during preseason.

I am fairly new to Texas. And I usually just watch the game on TV. But this year I am hunting for a local radio broadcast to listen while watching the games.... I think I am going to give that a try.

But I ahve no idea which group to listen to?? Any suggestions?

The radio broadcast of the game is done by Bram Sham and Babe Laufenberg. Brad is great. It is on 105.3 The Fan.

The problem in recent years is that the radio tends to be out of time sync with the broadcast if you have Cable or a Dish. Also, there is no way to get the radio broadcast on the DVR.

My Dad hates listening to Laufenberg, says his commentary wanders off of the game being played too much.
Me? I don't care, I tune Babe out like I do most every other announcer, there are only a handful out there that are worth listening to.

If you think they are bad, try listening to Joey T. do the Washington games. It's like listening to Dan Snyder's PR director doing color commentary. Everything is glorious. When RGIII drops the ball, Theismann will praise his effort in trying to recover his own fumble. Heck, he proclaimed the Ravens game the most important of Griffin's career, and the guy didn't even play. Only Theismann could make the Washington dumpster fire seem like a marshmallow roasting opportunity.

This year you can add in the sideline "reporting" by Clinton Portis, executed at a 2nd grade English level. It's brutal.

Doesn't Mayock do the Vikings preseason games? I know he did in the past. Talk about an upgrade over Theismann...

Overall the Cowboys TV broadcast is not bad. Depending what you want to get out of it.
I think they can do more to cover the younger players, and report on them in the game. How t they are doing in TC as well as the game, what the coaches like about them, or how they can improve.

But later in the game, yes the inset of a player being interviewed is annoying.
And the interview is too long in my opinion. That can wait until the post game.
It goes on too long and we miss commentary on the game and players itself.

Babe is ok, but I understand that he does go on about certain things too long. But I see that in a lot of games from other announcers too. And I would rather have that than hearing about other teams players.

I haven't noticed coming late on plays returning from commercials. It has happened at to,se though. But I seen that from the network broadcasts as well.

Actually when Mickey Spagnola was in the broadcast booth in past years, he was much more informative.

Then pregame show comes on at 6:00 here. So if anything interesting comes up, I will try to post it.
At 5:00 thenDeep Blue episode is on, but I am not sure what it is about this time.

Mayock was doing Philly this year chumming it up with that jerk that covers the Eagles and spit on our star Dave Spadaro, even Mickey wanted to slap that guy.

He was also all over the Kelly's jock, drooling over his offense in preseason play.

Your are spot on with the Washington coverage, Joe was critical of the OL and Rg3 during the preseason game when he got the beat down but overall everything is glorious.

Portis needs to go back to school and has no business even doing any reporting, he makes Emmitt sound like an Oxford professor.

I'm not sure what the love for Brad Sham is. I don't listen to games on the radio often, but I did have to listen to the Cowboys twice last year on Sirius while traveling and it was the most frustrating thing I have listened too. A good radio broadcaster sort of paints a picture of whats happening for those that are not there. Several times Brad would make a call like "TD Dez Bryant!", and that was it, no explanation of where the catch was, how the catch was made, nothing. Not sure if he was off his game a few times or if that's just the way he is.

He is getting old so it's possible he is declining. It's more likely that Babe interrupted or somehow screwed it up.

Babe is fantastic during a real game on the radio.

The problem with preseason games is, there's nothing really that interesting to talk about for the vast majority of his audience by midway in the second quarter. If he talked football like we do here, his audience would desert the broadcast.

In a regular season game, it's all football all the time with him.

Have they considered that people that like football details are their audience once Romo and Dez are out of the game which is when fluff fans tune out?

About 70 percent of their offense bails by halftime, and the other 30 percent wouldn't bail if they played banjo music.

Try to talk about player position battles for three hours without real game situations and implications to lean on. It's tough to do. If they played the meaningful guys the whole time, that would be one thing, but it gets raggedy after a while.

I could do without Keith Russell using "we" and "us" the whole time. He's the sports anchor for Channel 11.

Keith Russell sometimes make me cringe with his banal questions of Garrett and Steven Jones

He's from Philadelphia, and he actually burned his Eagles jersey on air to show he's "switching allegiances". Not only is that dubious at best, should a sports anchor have an open rooting interest?

Every question he asked on the sidelines, it seemed, was about going to the Super Bowl. LOL, this guy is a complete amateur.

They barely acknowledge that there is a game being played. It's yuk yuk yuckedy yuk stories completely unrelated to the game.

I think the fact that Babe is no longer the CBS local sports anchor and his replacement is part of the broadcast has fueled his need to be the "look at me" guy.

Keith Russell is kinda of goofy but seems to try hard (too hard).

I think he is the exact opposite. I love his play by play: "Cowboys going right to left. Romo under center. Bryant wide right. Romo fakes the hand off to Murray, deep ball for Bryant-CAUGHT! TOUCHDOWN COWBOYS! THROW UP THE X! AGAIN!"

Babe is fine. He's a QB and his QB homer glasses make me roll my eyes from time to time but in the 4th quarter of preseason games, I find the stories interesting.

Listening to Broaddus trying to remember names and play the hokey false humility act is unwatchable without mute. Spagnola lacks charisma.
