Apparently the issue in Seattle was money. His numbers last season are an abnormality. 16:4 TD ratio but his other stats were a mess. I think he's an absolute upgrade and this team could avoid the tank if QB injured look of previous follow up seasons. Otoh, the other common denominator of those seasons was internal drama exacerbated by risky roster decisions (Pacman, Tank, Hardy)

It's a conundrum to me and this is from someone who had no issue with his stance. Personal feelings aside, there's little question that it has some level of consequence.

If the issue was money, they would've been better off signing nobody instead of throwing away all that money on Austin ******* Davis.

I've said all along... I don't think he's a very good QB, forget politics.

Plus, I don't want the drama.

Not to mention that he wants good money (if the Seattle trip is any indicator).

I agree with the team not bringing him in.

That's the thing... You have to take on a lot just for an OK player.

I agree that he deserves a chance but I just don't want that circus here.

Also, I don't know if deserve is the right word but the owners have just as much right to take a stand and not sign him as he did to take a knee.

It's not really even about the owners taking a stand. If your starter goes down, your season is more than likely lost. The 1-2 extra wins Kaepernick might get you over another backup QB simply isn't worth alienating a large segment of your fan base on a long-term basis.

What if your QB goes down for 1-2 games? That happens quite a bit, too.

I hate this sentiment, because so many moronic fans don't stand with their hand over their heart during the damn anthem.

That and its a convenient red herring that detracts from the real message, but whatever. I can keep saying this crap until I'm brown in the face.

Cut the anthem from sports anyway - it's not necessary.

What's the real message?

He was an idiot last season. But, he wants to redeem himself for what he's done. I'm fine by having him as our backup. One drama move and he's out. I mean, if Dak goes down.. The season is over guys. I think we have the worse backup QB's in the NFL. And I'm not joking.

He's a tremendous upgrade over Moore, but darnit if he doesn't bring a bunch of outside noise (whether it's his fault or not).

We are the biggest spotlight in the NFL, this would be a story for quite a while. The players would be bombarded with questions constantly (imo).

The front office would need to carefully weigh risk vs. reward before pulling the trigger.

Kudos to Wilson, tho. Thanks, OP.

we do not need the distraction.

I appreciate your thoughts but disagree. I'd like to say more but can't as you know.

Funny how he is a street FA and he is willing to set aside his feelings that last year he felt so strongly about that people sympathized with him. Does not smell the sniff test....
