32. Dallas Cowboys
Salary Cap Space: $6,528,915 (31st)

Draft Pick Capital: Seven picks valued at 1,138.3 points (29th)

The Cowboys will be in better shape when they unload Tony Romo’s deal(which will save them about $5.1 million against the cap), but that doesn’t get them to where they need to be in order to truly improve their roster through free agency. With a number of holes to fill on the defense, especially at defensive back, the Cowboys can’t turn to the draft for high-value-pick help either; they hold seven picks for a total value of 29th leaguewide. Ultimately, with relatively few resources to utilize, unless they can capture lightning in a bottle again this offseason and uncover a midround gem like Dak Prescott at one of their positions of need, the Cowboys may look a lot like they did last year.

Lol, cap space articles like this rarely consider who we have already under contract and how some teams have tons of space but zero talent. It also clearly doesnt address how much room we can free up if needed.

At the rate teams are locking up thier own free agents it doesnt look like our cap number will matter much this year anyhow.

No need to restructure or cut players unless we find a FA we like that isn't asking for the moon.

This is basic reality which is why most will ignore it, lol.

Dallas has already used it's cap allotment essentially and it'll just be where they resign guys or slot in replacements at those pre plugged-in values.
The draft will constitute the most player acquisition.
Dallas will largely sit out free agency and instead look to recoup supplemental draft picks. And this isn't a guess, these were the exact words of Stephen Jones.

The biggest name player Dallas may well sign is when they extend Martin.

that's because that isn't their goal.
this isn't a power ranking but simply about cap cash available and draft pick haul already awarded.
it's fair and unbiased but a snapshot and nothing more.

Improvement from within and maybe some moderate impact next year from rookies.

There's your offseason.

Oh...And our offensive line will take a step back losing Leary and retaining Free.

I get it, I only wanted to point out context is important.

Fake news. The Cowboys FO philosophy is to draft and build from within and not through throwing money at free agency. This approach means they don't need as much cap space this time of year to address their needs. They will re-sign their own players, restructure a few other contracts as they've already been doing this off season and then they will draft better then most all other teams do. It's a smart strategy that needs to just continue to be implemented.

Guess we'll see if Cleveland's new (in 2016) staff can actually cash in on all this draft and cap space wealth.

Amazing how the Super Bowl champs have $60M available to them, and have next to nothing.
