Well, since the highest ranking teams on this list are really lousy and many of the lowest ranked teams on the list were playoff teams, I'm perfectly fine with ranking last on this list.

All of our core pieces are signed so this makes sense. Why anyone cares is beyond me

This is basic reality which is why most will ignore it, lol.

Dallas has already used it's cap allotment essentially and it'll just be where they resign guys or slot in replacements at those pre plugged-in values.
The draft will constitute the most player acquisition.
Dallas will largely sit out free agency and instead look to recoup supplemental draft picks. And this isn't a guess, these were the exact words of Stephen Jones.

The biggest name player Dallas may well sign is when they extend Martin.

The 'basic' reality is that we are going to be unloading Romo and saving $55m over the next three years. We are not completely leveraged financially. Not even close.

There are good expensive contracts...and bad expensive contracts.

Past decisions hang over the team.

We needed Romo badly...and he's played very well. But he's been in physical decline and had injury issues. $19 mil dead money adds up. Bryant was an overpay as was Crawford. The reality is that Witten will not be worth $8mil base, and I still hope that gets renegotiated.

We've also had expensive good contracts: Martin, Frederick, Smith...

Expensive is expensive. And here we are.

Basically, yes.
They have planned out what to use and where.
They have slots with assigned cap hits open but they are small cap hits.
That's why Stephen says they will rely upon the draft to fill holes.

I bet you said this the offseason we got Hardy. When we were "capped out" and Hardy didn't become available until later in the offseason when his tag was rescinded.

I bet you did.

No, I didn't.

Hardy was signed at essentially no cap cost due to ULTBE incentives for games played.
His cap hit wasn't counting until the week it was paid.
But Dallas learned from the Hardy ordeal and decided that trying to quick fix spots didn't work.
They are going to draft guys and look for FA values like Mayowa.
Again, pointless to argue with me when this is what Stephen Jones is saying.

Dallas when they signed GHardy were trying to make a run while Romo was upright and healthy.
They felt they had a small window.
Now they feel like young players cost less, perform better and last longer.

Why does that matter? He had to fit under that season's cap regardless. Not like his contract structure pushed the cap hit into a future season.

Why is it that every year I hear we are in cap hell, but then we free up money to do what we have to do. :D
