I doubt Canady is a lock to make the team. They have 90 training camp roster spots to fill, and they will be looking at a lot of people.

I get it but those camp bodies you sign later, not on the first day of camp. I think they have a reclamation project of some sort in Canady and expect him to make the 53. People argued before that they signed Carroll to be a camp body and in reality they wanted him to start, granted that was Marinelli who is gone.

Gut says they think they are set at CB now and can grab one in the draft and be done with it.

Would you be okay with....

Awuzie
Lewis
Brown
Canady

.....if the Cowboys beefed up their DL and S as well?

Let's say they aggressively rebuilt the DL and added a starting caliber S too.

It’s not ideal, but I would be ok with it.

that group of CB’s with good safety play could be a better overall secondary than last year.

we don’t know how good Awuzie, Brown and Lewis can be with actual safeties playing behind them.

Anthony Brown is headed back to the Dallas Cowboys
Taken in the sixth round back in 2016, Anthony Brown has had some high moments while with the Cowboys. He only played nine games for the team before his season ended in 2019, but his time with the team is not done. He is officially returning and reportedly on a three-year deal at that.

If you were feeling down about the Cowboys’ depth at cornerback then Wednesday has likely made you feel at least a little bit better. Dallas already had Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis, granted entering contract years, but they have since added Maurice Canady and now Anthony Brown.

This defense was better with him on the field last year, so this is a good move imo

I am happy about this deal. Lewis, Brown, Awuzie is not a bad group. If they add Trufant are rumored we will have 4 strong CBs.

We'll need to look early, most of the good ones could be gone by our round two pick.
Agreed. Gotta go early on unless a big dt falls. But who knows we could lock up dt through free agency

It would have to be a mighty great rebuild to think we were safe with that secondary. I suppose a high quality safety would ease my worry. Think Vegas would take a 1 for Heath?

Can totally see Canady being more of a core special teams guy/ depth at corner. Would expect to draft a corner in first 2 rounds. And I'm ok with that plan ....
