He only counts 3 million against the cap...leaves us with about 16 million. Teams have done a lot with much less.

Sounds like the 2021 $1.25m salary is guaranteed, as is the $3m salary in 2022, along with the $3.5m sign bonus to get to $8m guaranteed.

So after 2 years of paying him ~$4m a year he can be cut with very little dead money.

Seems like a reasonable deal - you can't just get all new CBs in one offseason.

I think #10 almost has to be CB, have thought that for months.

We're paying our 4th CB 5 million APY? Is it me or does that seem high? What's the going rate for a 4th CB?

Way I read the deal. Is 1 year. 3 mil.
They can cut him next off season before more money kicks in.

5 of the 8 guarantee million is guarantee for injury only.

if it’s a 1 year 3 million deal. That’s fine for quality depth IMO

I may be a little off.

he won’t see the whole contract and he won’t make 5 mil APY though. It’s more like 3-4 per year for 1-2 years.

Meh.. I don’t mind it..

He got way overhyped by this forum and now he is way over scrutinized by this forum.

He’s solid.

Not even close to solid.

I really wonder if we're watching the same players sometimes.

So any team in the league could have drafted him but the Cowboys did. That's fine, the same for every player.

But 4 years later, any team could have acquired him again-but the Cowboys did.

When our front office is the only one thst wants a guy-twice-that doesn't help me sleep well at night.

For those complaining about this signing, sure I too would like to see outside signings to upgrade other positions. However, in today's NFL this isn't a big contract for a corner up until last year graded out fairly well on the field. 2020 was a disaster for Nolan and the Cowboys. Hard to fairly assess many of those players, so willing to give Lewis a chance to show what he can do in a better scheme.

For the glass half empty guys a lot of those dbs you want are still out there, along with other defensive upgrades at LB and Dline. Free agency is only a couple days in.

Awesome, we get to hear, "holding, defense #26, 5 yard penalty, automatic 1st down," for 3 more years!

Championship!

I love how folks are saying Lewis is the 3rd/4th CB on the team..

The fact is..the third CB or Slot CB is a starter in today’s NFL. Lewis is a solid slot CB and played well under Marinelli defense.

That said, It’s safe to say he’ll play well under Dan Quinn’s scheme since it mirrors Marinelli’s style. This contract seems to work well for the Cowboys and Lewis. Lewis is still young and can cash in when the cap explodes a few years from now. The Cowboys get a known commodity at a position of need at a great price for a starting slot CB.

I love this move. It doesn’t stop Dallas from drafting a 1st Rd CB and it dosent mean that have to. The Cowboys will definitely draft a CB within the first three picks, but this move stops the FO from reaching for a player. (Side note: I hope Dallas drafts Greg Newsome II in the 2nd Rd)

good move imo

Great signing he’s one of the best nickel corners in the league. Did he have a down year this year? Yes, but this defense was horrible!

I believe 5 mil of the guaranteed cash is injury guarantee that doesn’t activate except for injury or after the league year begins next year.

I think it’s a 1 year, 3 million dollar deal and he only makes more of they decide to keep him next year.

I could be wrong though.

If thats the case, then I like the deal. He is a fine 4th corner
