Way I read the deal. Is 1 year. 3 mil.
They can cut him next off season before more money kicks in.

5 of the 8 guarantee million is guarantee for injury only.

if it’s a 1 year 3 million deal. That’s fine for quality depth IMO

I may be a little off.

he won’t see the whole contract and he won’t make 5 mil APY though. It’s more like 3-4 per year for 1-2 years.
Ah okay, thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

IMO, they are putting Lewis and Brown into starting roles. That’s a lot of coin for nickel and dime players
That's kind of scary. I hope we really need up the D linemen if these guys are going to be on the field a lot. Diggs, Brown and Lewis kind of scare me if they have to cover for 5-10 seconds.

I think keeping Lewis is a plus. He’s a better player than what we saw last year. We’re going to draft a CB in either round 1 or 2. But we’re going to need a real productive draft.

I was encouraged by Diggs progress last year. Getting a legit vet on the other side would have been the best thing for him.

Lewis is as close to a playmaker on defense as we have had in years. If they were going to resign any of the DBs he is the one I would want. I'm not counting what anyone did in this defense last year. It was chaos from the beginning. They got rid of the coach who caused that chaos, so I'm not holding anything against what those guys did last year.

With Lewis back in the fold, the Cowboys at least have some semblance of veteran depth in their secondary. Lewis' contract is awfully reminiscent of the 3 year, $15 million deal Brown signed last offseason. Those two, combined w/Diggs, gives them 3 experienced starters. BOOM!

And we’re going to draft a corner either in round 1 or 2.

It does allow us freedom in round one. We aren’t forced to grab a receiver. With Quinn at the Georgia pro day, I think Stokes may be a legit option in a trade down

All players on this defense are below average besides dlaw. What a joke. Gregory is probably about average. Team is years away for being contenders.

Diggs and Wilson are probably the only two guys worthy of being brought back. Nobody else made plays in the secondary. I just don’t understand this at all. Good for Lewis and his family though I guess. Our secondary, not so much......

we have 11 picks I think . We should be active in moving up but we’ll see

Guess we can scratch CB off the needs list....

Probably, we've got Diggs, Brown, Lewis and Canady. Since our philosophy seems to be the same this year -- make sure you have someone who can start at every position, even if that player is not an upgrade -- that will probably do it. Hope I'm wrong and we take care of the other starting spot with a better free agent, but both Brown and Lewis have started at times.

I wasn’t that keen on bringing Lewis back but this price you can’t really say no. He does make some great plays at times, even if he’s not consistently reliable. I also feel like he performed better in his first few years then last year, so there’s some hope with a competent coaching staff he can be an acceptable rotation player. At any rate, it’s a dirt cheap contract for a CB with an easy out if he continues to suck. Drafting a high level CB is still of utmost importance however.
