He might be, but still has upside.

The guy w/ better tools is quite often not the better QB. Was Josh Freeman better than Tom Brady? But he could run a lot faster and throw a lot harder, so he must be.
Why do people knock Brady's arm? Didn't anyone actually watch him play?

Pretty sure Dak is getting an extension and if Joe wants a legit shot at starting it will not be in Dallas. Exact same scenario with Phenom Trance, which is why to made zero sense to waste draft picks.
I don't know why that's hard for some to understand

Fisher suggests Milton could be back if he clears waivers
There are 4 teams that kept 4 quarterbacks that should probably be interested.

Milton asked for a release and Shotty obliged him. Not sure why they didn't get a late pick, but maybe they decided to do him a favor. I don't like that.

Yes, this is why I questioned why Milton was brought here, and why he wanted to come here, when he would be a FA before Prescotts deal expired.

Same with Lance. I really don’t get the Jerry line of thinking most of the time.

There was never going to be an opportunity to get a QB on the cheap. They gave up little, but this is a team that needs draft picks more than any other and they tend to throw them away on things that have no real chance to become something.
I think Jerry thought Lance gave him leverage in Dak's negotiations.

No he didn't.
Yes he did. Milton put up better numbers than Milton did.

The league is beating Milton's for down. Literally nobody cares except for a handful of Cowboys fans who will forget about this in two weeks.

The rest of the league couldn't give a rip about him.
Again, we’ll see.

Seems to be a personal issue for you.

to be honest, what was the upside? he is 26, and had a long way to go. keep him for what? another couple of years, for him to learn? and then give him starter reps for him to learn in real games. by the time he would be ready if everything went perfect, he would be 29. you don't build around a 29 year old.

we are in a win now mode. need reliable back up. Howell is way more reliable of course.

I just think people fell in love with the pretty spiral and made projections.
I’m mad that we released him but you do have a valid point. I keep forgetting he’s 26. So if he realistically became the starter after Dak he would be 28 or 30 at that age you got to start looking for a successor.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a big fan, but of the two, I have to pick Howell. Also I was really hoping Joe Milton would show more progress. He had a horrible third last game, and that’s trust going forward.
And maybe they put stuff in the third game that was more of a measuring stick.

Ok thanks

It wasn't horrible. By all accounts Howell did nothing but dink and dunk in camp and was not impressive. But suddenly one game with the 3rd stringers...and people think he'll be Nick Foles. He ain't Nick Foles.
Nobody is talking him up like he can win a SB.

Tom Brady, dink and dunk, methodical, that’s what wins football games, you take what they give you, he tied the game in the fourth quarter, don’t get me wrong. I don’t like either one of them, but Milton had a bad first half, he missed two wide open receivers, had the ball knocked down twice, he wasn’t looking at the lane
Ok, so obviously you didn't watch Brady play.
