Cowboys release TO *Merged*

Anyone else wonder if we have a case of Weekend at Bernie's here, and Jerry was offed and Stephen immediately propped him, slapped on a pair of sunglasses and cut T.O.?

It isn't. Garrett told Jerry he wanted him back.

I just can't hardly believe that. Not trying to question you or put you on the defensive or anything though...

More than that, I wonder who did want him gone because someone sure did.

And what was happening on the field with T.O. didn't amount to much, did it?

what people never give him credit for is things other then catching the ball. he took 2 and sometimes 3 people with him on every play. and is probably the best blocking wr in football.

A reasonable possibility? Well, I guess it's a reasonable possibility that our total numbers will be better with Romo in 16 games instead of Brad Johnson.

And I seriously hope Garrett can figure out how to actually be an NFL offensive coordinator in the next 5 months and not just play one on TV.

OK, I guess I will take that. :D

I'm looking forward to it. Really.

No one is going to recognize that ever since T.O. showed up, our receivers have shown a pretty noticeable leap in development?

also - did you notice the division he brought the team? just wondering if you're adding up both sides here or just teh side of choice.

don't worry. he leaves room for your ego still.
You're like a sad little puppy that won't stop following me.

would that be glenn who's gone, crayton who everyone wants to trade, stanback who can't see the field for more than 1 play at a time, hurd who's never heard from anymore or austin, who's had potential since before TO got here?

just wanna make sure i didn't miss the quantum jump.

Crayton got better, Hurd got better and Miles got better. A 7th rounder and two UDFA's. Perhaps you don't remember what they were like when they got here.

I think no matter what the Cowboys do people will get extremely mad. Jerry can't win for nothing. I'll wait until after the draft and the season to say if it was a bad move or not. Right now......It looks REALLY bad but who really knows what the future holds with this team. We still have talent on the offensive side of the ball and the defense just needs to learn how to get in position to make a tackle. Hopefully it turns out for the better but I won't jump off the nearest bridge just yet.

to put a rumor to rest:

The Cowboys were 14, 15 million dollars under the cap 2 hours ago and that has NOT change, 'cept for a less than a million dollars.

We did NOT take a 10 million dollars hit. Our cap figure hasn't changed much, and this will NOT affect any plans that the Cowboys had when it came to FA and money under the cap.

But you act as if Romo never benefitted from a 1,000-yard, 10-plus TD wide receiver.

It's undeniable every QB T.O. played lengthy amounts of time with was better with him than without -- and all of them faced the same pressure to get him the ball or face his wrath.

I don't think Romo will become pond scum. But I highly doubt Romo will be chasing any 4,000-yard, 35-TD seasons without T.O. around.

Probably not. And you know what? I don't care. Stats are for losers.

If nothing else, cutting Owens sends an unmistakable message to the rest of the roster -- "no one is more important than the team. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, OR GET THE !#@$&^! OUT."

People that are against this move and saying we are gonna suck next year and everything else are forgetting something very important. This team is going to be built around running the football first next season. There are 3 good running backs on this team. This team can and I think will be successful next season with 3 good RB's, a top 10 QB, a great TE, a wide receiver core of Crayton, Williams, and Austin and a top 10 defense.

and all that is ONLY because of TO?

sorry, i just can't stretch that far. this is just a personal move for you and any excuse will do.

he's gone. now i can dream about the day TO threads follow.

If this is a sincere move, based on a valid reason, then I find it acceptable.

If it is a move that is insincere, based on the principle of "if he stays, I go" or something of its kind, then I've lost trust in the organization.

This simply seems like a bad move, from both a cap and talent perspective, and one totally contradictory to what Jerry was implying just a few weeks before.

So, how this move raises Jerry in someone's opinion is beyond me, unless that someone already had the disposition to hate on TO.

They were kind of like raw, unpolished 7th rounders and UDFAs.

I guess there's no such thing as natural progression. It was the magic of Owens...
