***Cowboys released Rodney Hannah *Merged***

Hannah and Rogers just so they could bring in Duke? I don't suppose they gave a reason?

He missed practice the last two days ..... wonder if something is up.

I really liked him last year and this year as well but he's just unlucky in that the depth chart at TE is too deep on the Cowboys. I have a feeling they probably released him at his request though since he knew it was unlikely he would make the team. This gives him a chance to latch on with another team that may have a need at TE.

told you zoners, wasnt good for hannah to miss practice yesterday

They said that they would have to ask Wade at the pc and they thought the Cowboys liked Hannah.(But he was held out of practice yesterday.) Rob Phillips speculated there may have been a personal problem.

Good to let him go early and catch on with another club where he can make the roster. Packers did the same with Preston.

Rob Phillips just said on Talking Cowboys that Rodney Hannah is no longer with the team. Given that it is new news, Rob gave no reason.

After we drafted Phillips I don't know why he bothered trying out again...

After he asked for his release, the Cowboys waived tight end Rodney Hannah on Thursday, leaving the roster at 76.

Hannah was not at Wednesday's practice. He caught a touchdown pass from Stephen McGee in last week's preseason game vs. Tennessee but was facing an uphill climb in winning the No. 3 tight end spot behind Jason Witten and Martellus Bennett.

Sixth-round pick John Phillips has taken most of the work as the third tight end and Southlake's Scott Chandler is also in the mix.

Hannah spent most of the last two seasons on the practice squad after signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent from Houston. He played only one year in college, finishing with 11 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown after playing two years for the Cougars' basketball team.

The Cowboys will have to make one more roster move to get to 75 players by the Sept. 1 deadline.

I'm wondering if he has a personal issue, or he wants to play for the Eagles?

He's trying to parlay that TD catch into a spot on another team. Better to do it now, than after 32 teams cut 20 something guys each.

I'm sure he wanted a chance to hook up with another team. Phillips had already beaten him out.

IMO Chandler is a better TE

another case of if you want a TE or a BB player

you draft a TE
