Seek medical assistance when shooting yourself in the foot. I guess Their franchise QB didn't just retire to structural failure, and they aren't also paying for the very best offensive line in the NFL. There are trade offs for roster cash flows.

Myself, I don't feel that Sean Lee or Orlando Scandrick are being underpaid...but I'm quite happy with Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Elliott, and a top shelf offensive line. Never mind a Hall of Fame level tight end...
Fair viewpoints sir! Everyone here has passionate views on how our favorite team could/can become better! That's why the Cowboys are Americas team. But they make crazy too lol

When developing teams, you don't feel that there is a difference in coaching affects? I seem to recall a Tom Landry that required a 10 year contract of good faith, BEFORE he started to be appreciated for being a fine coach and actually molding players into a quality team.

(cough...cough) I guess with this, one is also ignoring the 12 win season with nothing more than walking dead put into the defensive line...yea, pretty weak and inflammatory alright.
They could have went 16-0 and the pass rush still sucked. Heck, you could argue that not being able to get remotely close to a gimpy Rodgers all game was a pretty darn major reason they were knocked out of the playoffs.

No one looks back at that season and says "Wow, that Dline really surprised everyone."

And if the Pope wasn't Catholic, then he would conduct Christmas Eve Mass...

It's all about team success, no matter weight of values being tossed around.

Exactly. Marinelli is living off his Super Bowl defense from many years ago.

You must be referring to his time in Tampa Bay where he was the DL coach.

He didn't become a defensive coordinator until age 61 in Chicago back in 2010.

Of course, he may have run the defense in those great Detroit teams 2006-2008....;)

And almost every one of those Chicago teams were in conversation of best defense in the NFL. Not to mention leading or very close to leading in TO's every single year.

Rod isn't the problem. Mismanagement of top picks and refusing to sign good vets unless we "steal" them led to a vast chasm of talent on that side of the ball basically since he arrived.

He was a big reason that 2014 did as well as they did. I think we led the league in turnovers. Looking at that group on a depth chart preseason, I'd have given someone 10:1 odds that'd ever happen

Seeing a lot of Marinelli is overrated posts and I get where that comes from. The truth is, he's a damn good coach, great defensive mind, especially when it comes to defensive line.

He is overrated though. As far as being a savior, who can make mediocre players amazing, he is completely overrated. Shame on this organization and the fanbase for expecting miracles from him the last few years. Go get him some real help.

Help? You serious? Charles Haley, Leon Lett, and a quality linebacker and quality DB coach...

This team has a strong talent base at defensive line now. It has to grow now...and unless Gregory flames out completely, this group will be on path to be a tough group by the end of this very season.

Russell gives credit to Marinelli, up front...as does Crawford. Marinelli breaks the game down to simple things. That takes thinking out of their play. Just watch and see if this doesn't elevate the large group of young linemen!

The offense won 12 games which was really good considering how bad the pass rush was. The lack of a pass rush caused the playoff lose and it has not been improved yet.

It takes a team, no matter the level of contribution...to dominate. No way around it. There are three areas to a football team

The loss was due to an official's call on Dez Bryant that WOULD have won the game and taken the team to the NFC Championship...

With the exception of DLaw, there is not a proved pass rusher on this team. There is a severe shortage of talent at the pass rushing positions and the only slim hope for improvement is Gregory, who is on the way out of the league.

You put a lot of faith in the Jones family , so the fact that Stephen and Herry has said the loss was due to a lack of pass rush should effect your opinion. No team can be a consistent threat to win playoff games without a decent pass rush. My frustration comes from the fact that there are some cheap ways to improve it, but no action is taking place. Signing a pass rusher should be the number one priority at this point even if it some of the older veterans that are available. There is no evidence that these young guys can or will develop into the players that Dallas needs.

Landry coached in a different time when the game was played in a much different manner. To be honest, he came to Dallas with more coaching credentials than any coach in the current staff, so I understand the patience that was shown with him. Landry also fielded defense's that showed improvement every year. From looking at the stats for sacks over the last three years, the sack totals have been near the bottom of the league every year and there has been no progress from year to year. I don't expect excuses, i want results.

You take the high road and I'll take the low road and I'll be in Scotland before you...always cherry picking and reverting to personal high grounds.

No, the point is that he had to earn his respect...and your tag along magic dust just doesn't change the view...

First off, I'm no ring tapper and go by my own view of things. You simply make up a stance and try to turn tides...not going to happen here.

The remedy would be to get some real de's in dallas.

The burn barrel convention is being held down the street...

Let's see some of your insights...how does a defensive tackle defeat a double team block?
