Oh wait. Nate Allen.

A bird in the hand...

We know what Bethea can do, the college players are relative unknowns in comparison.

No, just a 25 year old who's already been to two Pro Bowls.

So what's the difference between trading a first for Bethea and drafting Nate Allen in the first?

3 years age difference?

WOW!

Bethea.2 probowls.SB ring.proven.experienced> Nate Allen. Could be a total JAG

No, there's no one in the draft that has already proven to be NFL multi-Pro Bowl caliber safety.

There's probably players who "project" to be good, but then again LaRon Landry was "projected" to be an All Pro for the next decade.

You could draft Nate Allen in the 2nd, and he's going to have a much lower contract.

I'm done, you guys can wish for Bethea to your hearts' content. It's not gonna happen.

and he';s not going to start either since the coaching staff doesn't like to start rookies

yeah but what would he cost us in a draft pick, i dont want to lose our top 3 draft picks for sure;

I'm not positive but I think we could work a trade instead of giving them a draft pick.

It's perfectly fine to suggest that Bethea isn't worth the price, but to suggest you can just go out pick up a player who will go to 2 Pro Bowls in his first four years in the NFL like you're picking one off a tree is a bit of naive simplification of the inherent gamble of the draft process. If finding Pro Bowlers was that easy in the draft, particularly for this franchise, we wouldn't have had a 13 year playoff drought.

And if finding good safeties was so easy, it's hard to explain how this franchise has been without decent safety play for about 8 consecutive years.

Nate Allen won't be there with our 2nd rounder.

Nate Allen wouldn't contribute right away. Wade doesn't start rooks.

Nate Allen could amount to nothing.

Who cares about money. If he's good. Pay him

I'm trying to win now. Not waiting a few years hoping Nate turns into anything,

Seriously, you guys don't think we could find a Bethea in the draft? He was a freaking 6th round pick from Howard.

Wait a minute homie! U talkin' bout my alma mater :D

I'm talking about skill-set. I'm not saying Nate Allen is going to be an All-Pro, but has the skill-set to do the things Bethea does.

Let's not act like they would have the same contract.

Nate Allen would get something like 5 years for 12 millon for his rookie contract, while Bethea would get somewhere in the ballpark of 50 mil.

I'm not saying that!!

A FS isn't going to determine if we win the Super Bowl or not.

Your mindset that we have to have Bethea is exactly why we're straddled with Ken Hamlin's enormous contract. Paying free safeties enormous contracts is an enormous blunder.

uncapped year.

bye.

No way for a 1st... but for maybe a 3rd rounder, if St. Louis is willing to do it, I say go for it.
