Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign CB Cobie Durant

As always, this is your takeaway. Sad and predictable really.

Edit: Just read the last 5 pages of this and they only time the word "hate" or "hater" was mentioned was you. Go figure.
That’s the problem these days. Not many like myself who don’t give a damn and will hold people accountable. It’s a badge I proudly wear.

He look its super coach that predicted the defense was gonna be great last year ........... and look here you are defending Jerry's scrubs again.

What a shock.

Oh and about the finding another team junior ....... I have been on this forum spreading hate for over 20 years so you go root for another team super coach.
Very true.

I think he’s a solid, if unspectacular corner. He definitely improves the roster. Solid move in my opinion.
Come on man none of us know how good or bad these players are. Some yahoo here says a player sucks or is great and everyone believes the guy who said he sucks.

Diggs killed us last year. Him being gone is a huge plus.

Revel didnt play until late and wasnt 100%. I liked what I saw from him. He should make big strides with a training camp at full strength.

Bland never looked comfortable. Moving him in and out may have been part of that. Having poor safety play contributed. Having a rotation of jags on the other side contributed. Provided he comes back healthy, he should be fine.

Butler only played late and was rusty. He should be better come camp.

Now with Durant and Thompsons ability to play the slot as well, we're looking ok on the back end. But adding another CB or Safety could definitely still be in the cards.
I think they are definitely thinking CB in round one. Durant only signed a one year deal.

Hopefully Delane is there for us at 12

Right. Michael Strahan said (iirc) that if he knew that he could just pay a fine for not attending camp he would've...not attended camp. Don't imagine too many vets like the grind of it all. They just wanna play football. They figure they are vested, established and their record speaks for itself...especially former all-pros and pro-bowlers.

The problem with targeting free agents post-draft is the slim pickings that are left. You can get better deals yes but what about the quality? That would be my concern. Not saying that you can't target better but you would have to admit that you'd be working with a smaller group of players. And it's what a lot a fans simply don't like about the way Jones has approached this in the past. Waiting too late to enter the fray and then finding that there is not a lot to work with...although he has turned his nose up at guys like Travis Henry, who could definitely have helped this team a few years back. Some edge rushers have also been looked over. That 21-23' period was pretty horrible for free agent acquisitions. They didn't do nearly enough and the trade of Amari Cooper was disastrous imo. Probably cost them at least a title game appearance in 2022.
I still say there will be plenty of guys that may still be cut or more easily traded for less during the draft ,and after the draft, and they can make a move like they did with Pickens ,They can still trade after the draft.

But that's the thing guys like Clowney will be there and he did a good job for us You can get guys like him in June.. Yes they are stop gaps but what you need to do is see what you got in the draft then see what your needs are...

i'm not saying they should wait until after the draft to make any more moves like I said I'd like to see a Bobby Okereke,
where someone like him, put on this team right now.. I was looking at the rankings And believe it or not he was ranked one spot higher then Quay Walker who the Cowboys wanted so it wouldn't be that big difference..

You know a lot of teams are going to end up in the draft getting player players that they didn't realize at certain positions they're gonna want to move the odd man out like we just moved OSA,

so they're either going to cut them or trade them for a cheaper than they will right now..

Honestly I think our secondary is legit fine. The front 7 is infinitely more important to build at this point.

Now watch the cowboys draft a corner at 12.
If you want a shutdown type CB1 that can play either man or zone. Yes you take one at 12 if he's there. Or you get your ILB (Styles or Allen).

Got it. I guess we just have to wait and see what shakes out the trees. There could be some post draft trades I suppose. Some time until then.

And the Cowboys have shown a propensity to go out and get players in the last year. Big change from years past.

Uzo-Diribe was the OLB coach, not the inside guy. But I'm sure he has familiarity with him. I would be concerned about Allen's coverage ability though. Not sure he's a fit there.
That is his biggest concern, can he hold up enough in coverage? When you listen to CP's press conference, he fits exactly what he is looking for: high iq, physical, instinctive player. There was a rumor out there that he reportedly blew the Cowboy staff away with his whit board work in his interview at the combine.

I’m not convinced he makes it to 20 tbh. Colbinations of Character and skills and a weak class make me think he could go between 13-19
Very possible. He is a day 1 impact player with a high floor. Exactly what Booker was last yr. They have already said, they want ready players and no projects.

Nobody said he was irreplaceable. The entire team sucked last yr, but that's not the point. In order to content for championships you need tough, smart ballers who don't fold in the Crucials.

In my opinion this is a huge part of the culture change that's needed on this team.
I agree. But you shouldn’t have to break the bank on finding tough and smart football players. We already found some and didn’t have to spend big.

first hold yourself accountable for being the most miserable poster here who somehow thinks he has authority
truly pathetic

Very nice pickup. It takes the urgency to take CB in the draft away. It gives Dallas a lot more freedom to take the best available at 12 and 20. Best signing yet, IMO.

They could still go CB in the first round… but now they can also not go CB in the first either.
How do you rate the CBs in this draft?

I like the signing. With the just league average secondary play— we likely would have won 3-4 more games if not more.

Thompson, Locke, and now Durant gives us some solid if not spectacular fits we did not have last year.

As this is CP’s specialty, hopefully the horrid communication, blown assignments, and pathetic tackling will be a thing of the past (fingers crossed)
This.

CP hasn’t neglected the front 7 totally during free agency, but it’s clear he wants to clean those things up you said there in a major way.

Hard to disguise coverages when the guys back there can’t comprehend what is being asked of them and communicate it with each other in the field.

I think they are definitely thinking CB in round one. Durant only signed a one year deal.

Both picks should be used to trade down. We need more picks. Not two potential blue chippers.

Rookies rarely come in and make an immediate impact. Took Parsons half a year to find his grove and he may be the best defensive player in the league.

We have enough starters now to be middle of the pack. What we dont have is depth. We need 2 DL, 1 ILB (at least), Safety (to replace Hooker), long term option at CB, backup to Gary. And thats just on the defense. We need more picks!!!

That's what the agent wants when they aren't offered the amount they were asking. Try again next season.
