he has twice the stats in one less year so that would be oh id say a round up so its Gregory thats a bust lol use common sense sure his exceptions may have been higher but does that matter we are getting as good a player cheaper that has twice the production and fans saying somehow that bad thing we lost Gregory and got Fowler. Heck Armstrong nearly had identical numbers as Gregory in the same % of snaps. and we got him back cheap; the luv affair with Gregory from ownership to fans kind of blinded to his actual production i mean hes talented for sure but i believe we wont miss him as much as people, think and its blessing that contract got rejected IMHO..
It depends on what you think of Gregory. Anyone who fails a drug test when you know it’s coming? I assume you won’t have much of a career. I thought at best he’d be a pass rush specialist like Bruce Irvin. I never expected a star so it’s hard for me to say bust….then again one just signed a bargain basement deal and the other just signed a 70 million dollar deal.

I’m fine with it. I’m just glad to see some new faces. Sometimes these things just work out. If it doesn’t no big deal

Not by much and Armstrong is only 24 if I'm not mistaken. He still has upside. Gregory has maxed out, especially after this contract.
I’m fine letting Gregory go (as long as we use the money elsewhere) but it’s a big downgrade from Gregory to Armstrong. Let’s not pretend otherwise. Hopefully If we don’t bring anyone else in via FA or the draft we can piece together a rotation at DE and find some LBs to let us play Micah there in the nickel and let him do his thing.

the best we can hope for with Fowler, is if he can be a good situational pass rusher
That’s exactly what the hope is and a rotational one at that. Plus my hope is that Quinn wanting him means something. Time will tell. I’m fine with bringing Fowler in on a reasonable deal and honestly think it’s a good move. My issue is the idea that he is more than what he is

Randy Gregory has Hall of Fame talent.

So does Ezekiel Elliott.

To a lesser degree....LaEll Collins.

They make different choices nowadays when they become rich beyond wild comprehension before doing much at all on the field.

Not finger pointing or bringing up a culture thing that turns into an endless debate, just saying....the right motivation definitely means something.

more career sacks then Gregory

so what's Gregory then with 14 threads on how jerry messed up not making sure he styed LOL

so Gregorys been here since 2015

85 total tackles 16.5 sacks 8 FF (hes got a knack for this )

Fowler since 2016

200 tackles 35 sacks 10FF yes MORE than randy huh

wow if Fowlers a bust one less year in the league and far better stats what was Randy for real, OVERRATED nice story underachieving suspension waiting to happen. But yea the Jones boys made mistake trying to add a much-needed clause to his contract,.

if that is not eye opening not sure what is. you call player a bust who far better player than the one cut who everyone's upset is gone for 13mil?! lmao hypocrites..fact is RG contract debacle was blessing in disguise Jerry couldn't bring back one of his pet projects and now we can replace him with Armstrong whos stats are actually nearly identical, Fowler with stats are far better and knows Quinn's system, and draft pick to be named later. All for about the price of Randy,

I was actually asking a question if he was a bust or not. I wasn't comparing him to Gregory. I wasn't mad that we lost Gregory either. I do remember him being the third over all pick and I do know that this will be his fourth team. His fifth year option was denied. I don't remember him ever being a factor in a game where he was playing that I watched. I'm more or less making a statement of the TYPE of FA that our FO go after. I hope he's worth the $4.67 Million that he'll get this year.

So far I’m seeing WR and DE in the draft. The FA signings are like a blueprint for the draft. I’m hoping for OL, LBs, and RBs too.

I don’t recall Gregory being that high maybe the Cowboys said that but I never saw him as the best edge rusher in the draft or as a top 5 pick. That seems extreme.
Dallas Cowboys: Randy Gregory, DE/OLB, Nebraska https://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/college/Nebraska_logo.gif
There have been reports that Randy Gregory will be chosen in the top 10. Based on what teams know about him, I would find that crazy. It's more likely that he drops this far, and if he does, Dallas will take him, from what I'm hearing. Defensive end is a need in the wake of Greg Hardy's 10-game suspension, and given the status of Jerry Jones and Tony Romo, the Cowboys have to be willing to take more risks.

Google 2015 mock draft. Every one of them has Gregory as a 1st rounder.

Strangely enough, Fowler is usually seen as a top 5 pick. Vic Beasley up there as well.

Very well deserved character concerns pushed Gregory to the end of round two.

I tend to think the head coach has quite a bit of input because the GMs generally want to get them players that fit what they want to do. Not saying Quinn did the picking, but unless the coach comes out and talks about not being able to shop for the groceries, I believe it is a symbiotic process.
All you have to do is look at the defensive players brought in for Quinn. Not many fit what he looks for.

Our front six could be comprised of Lawrence, Gallimore, Armstrong backed by

Fowler, Vander Esch, Parsons.

Parsons moves everywhere!

The probability of this being right is low. What are better lineups?

I never said he wasn’t as high as a first rounder…im saying that whole top 5 talk is outrageous. He would’ve never went higher than Fowler….

THIS ^
Don't mind that we did resign him if you use his money for another quality pass rusher.
On a side note it was not a good look for the Cowboys about the whole contract fiasco.

I think being highly motivated is 50% of being a great player, the other 50% being talent.

It might be assumed, naming those three players. What does right motivation mean?

As crazy as it sounds if the Cowboys sign Wagner and bring back Kearse, the defense will be better then last season. The reason is you can make Parsons a true wild card and no one really will know where he is going to line up. Maybe Cap Boy has a plan after all.
