That's probably way behind remaking the secondary. As of now, they dont have a replacement for Byron or Heath. And Awuzie is a free agent next year. Expect a draft heavy in secondary players.

They at least have McCoy, Woods, Crawford, Hill inside. Might pick another guy in the draft but they wont go heavy on Dline.
I would see if Cra
100% agreed. People have to start realizing Crawford isn't going anywhere. They dislike Hill but he likely gets reps this season
What's most hilarious is how people act like replacing Jones and Heath will be impossible...there are a bunch of guys who can be just as good...I viewed both of them as Okay players...plenty of options out there

With McCoy the interior D-Line took a big step forward, so there isn't that much to remake. I'm not sure getting another edge rusher for RDE and leaving Woods at 1T wouldn't work out well.
Crawford and woods both may be gone soon...

IMO, that's the plan.

Crawford will play at DE / DT

Armstrong will backup at DE, If Gregory returns he will start at RDE

McCoy and Woods will start at DT. Hill will backup DT along with a guy like Ross/Wise/Covington

Lawrence will start at LDE

Not elite but will be solid

Can you list the plenty of options to replace Byron?

Because the only two options I can think of are Jeff Okudah and CJ Henderson. If those two guys are gone by our pick, we are ******.

Trufant only played 9 games last year and gave up a 66% completion percentage and 101 passer rating against. Chris Harris Jr. is a slot specialist.

If he has such a quick first step, why did we never attempt to get him when Marinelli was here? Isn't that sort of his thing?
I really wanted to sign Gerald McCoy last year after he was released by Tampa Bay.

But it would have meant adding legit competition for Maliek Collins, something I don't believe Rod Marinelli wanted. He loves "his guys" and bringing in DTs who could actually supplant Collins and/or Antwaun Woods just wasn't going to happen.

It was always about adding depth and versatility instead of looking for players who could replace/challenge the starters.

I did as well. I suggested cutting Crawford and giving that money to McCoy.

We all just assumed he would go after a former player he had in Mike Daniels..but nope...as of yet he hasn't. He has really been doing his homework it seems.

I don't know that I agree with that but he seems so certain.

Whatever they do is great in his eyes. Any list that includes Crawford should be questioned.

I'm surprised he could pull himself away from his stupid, never-ending mock drafts that all suck.

Last year, when I wanted DAL to get McCoy I watched videos on him, and with his personality if he can't get Trysten Hill to interacting the young guy just doesn't have it in him. McCoy won't be in on this HotBoyz stuff he's a grown azz man, so I like that too.

Jimmy Smith, Aaron Colvin, Aquib Talib, Chris Harris Jr....I could go on and on...Byron was not worth 82 Million...I'm glad we moved on...Awuzie and Brown with any of these guys is legit.

Is McCoy a 3T
I don't think it matters too much. "close enough" may be good enough.

I got the impression that McCarthy wants to build/work a scheme around the players rather than forcing the players to fit a scheme

We must have different definitions of legit.

The Cowboys secondary was bad last year WITH Byron Jones. Every single player you mentioned is clearly WORSE than Byron Jones.

I might agree with you Byron wasn't worth 82 million. But saying he's easy to replace is foolish.
