If we can re-sign McClain, I'll finally be able to exhale about our LB corps.

Going from Carter & Durant ----> Rivers & Gachkar isn't exactly an upgrade, but they were able to replace two quality LB's with some guys who have some ability, while saving a ton of money in the process.

I think the recent signings have to do more with bringing in versatile players that can play ST and provide depth in needed positions.....no true starters at this point... potential yes, competition absolutely.

This all depends on McClain. If we can re-sign McClain our starters can be Lee,McClain, Hitchens.

If not then we have to draft a starter or go with someone like Brinkley or Rivers in the starting lineup. Even if we re-sign McClain the new guys (Rivers, Gachkar, Brinkley) will get playing time due to the injury possibilities with Lee and McClain.

I don't even have much of a problem with the signing, not like the Brinkley one which I think as a complete waste of time.

I have a big problem with the way that we appear to be approaching the draft like it will cure all ills.

Then when we do not hit every choice, we will be reminded it is a crap shoot. Then it will be "in Will McClay we trust".

Free agency is supplement. You do not have to go in and blow your cap. Nor do you have to go in and scrap the bottom of the barrel.

At this stage, I would have preferred we took the little 3-5 million here and there and made a concerted effort to stabilize at least one position.

The way it looks to me on paper, we have added LB to the RB and DL areas that absolutely have to wait until April.

Unless of course there is this imaginary June 1stmas extravaganza that people still believe exists.

Lets see how it works out in Training camp before we start claiming DOOM and GLOOM.....Durant wasn't the All American LBer when the cowboys brought him in either. Think the Coaches and FO know these players a little better than the Fans do.....

LB's drafted the last 3 years....

Anthony Hitchens
Will Smith
DeVonte Holloman
Kyle Wilber
Caleb McSurdy

3 outta of these 5 you've mentioned are solid players, especially considering were these players were taken in their perspective drafts.

I like the signing. Ascending player who could play in the middle or strong sides. Very very good special teams player. Other than the McFadden signing (it's not the money - I don't think he can play anymore), and the lack of bodies being added to the DL, I like the additions. Brinkley can help on run downs and specials, White provides versatility in the secondary, as well as some competition.

Looks like they will have to go through the draft for pass rush help, unless someone sees Alex Carrington (DE on rush downs, DT on pass downs) or DaQuan Bowers as being the answer. Can't see them bringing in Hardy - with the way teams are staying away from him, the league office must be giving off the scent that they are going to suspend him for some length of time.

Well, I was waiting for this. Thank you.

Keep telling you dude you're wasting your time on this board when it's clear with your knowledge of the players you should be in the frtofc giving advice to the coaching and scouting staff. I'm sure you've watched more film on these cats then the staff has.

I just me or does it seem like the FO is getting obnoxiously arrogant with these seemingly pointless free agent signings. Like they know what they are doing. Go look at the list of their Garrett Era FA signings. They clearly dont

I love the signing and this guy has a heap of upside and natural talent. I reckon he will break out for us and become a very solid defender.

Me too....I've thoroughly read some SD fan boards the last 20 minutes or so and they aren't happy at all. VERY good special teamer but they also say he played extremely well at ILB when called upon to start last season. Excellent spot starter and Special Teamer...quality signing by the FO

Even if we resign Rolando, I hope we at least draft one good LB this April.

Funny thing that even the Eagles had their eye on him early on in free agency.
