The
Oakland Raiders gave the roster’s revolving door another spin on Friday when they waived cornerback
LeQuan Lewis.
Signed this offseason as a camp body in the secondary, Lewis showed little upside during his time with the Raiders. Even with the numerous questions that the Oakland defensive backfield is currently facing, the team opted to head further into the offseason without him after he failed to stick out during OTAs and offseason workouts.
After going undrafted out of Arizona State in 2011, Lewis was picked up by the
Tennessee Titans as a rookie free agent. He managed to stick with the team all the way until the end of the preseason, but failed to make it through final cuts.
Considering that he couldn’t even make it as part of the Raiders 90-man offseason squad, Lewis’ chances of ever cracking an NFL roster are bleak at best. He has struggled through both of his short-lived NFL stints and could see his professional football career soon come to a close.
