I think Cook clearly showed that if you find the right guy, they can contribute quickly.

That definitely seems like the plan, but given the number of issues we've had at that position, I'm a bit concerned that we're not doing more there.

We don't know that the Cowboys are "not doing more". I pretty sure they are.

Disappointing.

I was hoping for a backup center seeing as we currently don't have one.

This move does not show that.

This shows that they had an open roster spot, and didn't sign a center.

That's why I was disappointed.

The Cowboys have 3 centers currently on the active roster and another one on PUP who's going to be eligible for active roster in another 5 weeks. They have centers coming out of their ears. There's not anyone just sitting at home looking for a job . The Bengals had to reanimate the corpse of Jeff Faine after Kyle Cook got hurt.

For God's sake, give up the ghost.

I'm curious as to who are these '3 centers' you speak of?

The only guy I see capable of playing center right now is Cook.

Actually 4 if you count Mack in an emergency with Cook, Costa, and Arkin.

While I'm chief among the people wanting improved center play, unless there is someone out there who is better than the 5 centers we have then pick him up....otherwise it is a waste of time.

Don't confuse wanting a better center with just another warm body to have another center, the position just isn't that important to have 6 of them.

I don't see where these numbers are coming from?

Now we're somehow up to 4 and 5 centers on this team?

I look and I see 1 guy capable of playing center - Cook, the guy who just got here a week and a half ago.

Does anyone really consider Arkin a viable candidate simply because he played center in training camp when we had no other option?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he was once again inactive for last Wednesday's game, wasn't he?

And reports indicate that Costa is in no shape to play for the foreseeable future.

Facts show that despite several weeks of rest, his back rendered him incapable of playing after just one play. Does that say 'available' to anyone else?

And somehow, after snapping in practice - in the past with the Panthers - Bernardeau is now considered a viable center option?

And as per my understanding of the PUP rules, Kowalski is not even available to play for 5 more weeks at best.

So, again, I see one guy currently able to play center for the Cowboys - Cook.

And after Wednesday's game, I see several capable cornerbacks. A lot more capable than the special teamer we signed anyway.

Well Costa is out, but the rest are available for the spot if need be in an emergency type situation. You still have Arkin and Mack who can be moved there, and from what I would figure, they probably are more comfortable with not having one and moving Mack than you are at the moment.

I will trust them in situations like this, cause they have been around the players everyday and know what they can do. I'm sure they have thought about a backup plan, and aren't just ignoring it like you seem to believe they are doing.

He said on the roster.

Cook, Costa, & Arkin who can be activated this week. I suspect Parnell will be deactivated, and if something happens at OT Cook will move there and Arkin to C.

What happened to "Killer"?
Inactive PUP, possibly will be headed to IR. The team does not expect to have him this year.

A definite understatement. Even they themselves have not made any effort to get Bernardeau - the guy people continue to label as a center option - any reps at the center position.

And while Arkin did a serviceable job thrust in at center under difficult circumstances, does anyone feel comfortable having to win a game with him at that spot?

Does anyone believe that we would have won the Giants game with Arkin there instead of Cook? Speak up and let me know if you do!

I thought they were ignoring it even before this, and I applauded their move to trade for Cook. In retrospect, a great move and one that saved their bacon.

But now I think they're pushing their luck!

Well, I was pushing for a FA center in the offseason of course, but if Costa and Cook are down, then your looking at Arkin or maybe Mack in a pinch, no matter if you like it or not.

There are several other positions on this team that we don't have a viable 3rd option backup for at the moment if 2 guys are injured, if Sensy can't play do you really want our last line of the D to be one of those scrubs we got backing him up right now....there is a bigger picture to look at than just one problem on the team.

Yep. Don't like it.

I think it would ruin an otherwise very promising season.

I'm not talking about third options, I'm talking about a viable second options at this point.

Costa is hurt and nobody knows when he'll be back.

And I do not consider Arkin or the guy who hasn't taken a single snap at center with the Cowboys 'viable options'.

Guess I'm more concerned about the D and Sensy's status than a backup to the backup center. Granted it is a concern, but Arkin at least has some experience there as does Mack. They are much better than the backups we have behind Sensy at the moment.

I'm sure they can call up Gurode if that will make you happy....:

Those 2 can fill in and then next week we could get another guy off his couch if you want if Cook gets injured.

Could be whatever centers out there are not worth bringing in right now. Subject to change.

Should have known that Hos was all over this signing. If this kid can add anything, I mean anything, to the return game, then thank the stars. Good size and very good speed.
