I especially love that he's a tackle. That will help us immensely when Tyron goes down. He's not the answer as a long-term starter, but if we need someone to fill in for 4-6 games, he's a very good choice.

Pretty sure he’s a guard only here. Which is good with me. So when 77 gets hurt, Tyler can get back to LT and this kid can play guard.

Can't get mad at this hire either. Depth piece if need be.

Hopefully it pans out well or better yet our starting OL can stay intact the entire season and we don't have to use him.

From a great institution of education.

They tried to trade for him at the deadline last year. Will McClay must really like him, or another scout really does, and kept bringing him up.

Only 25, he was a thrid round pick and was a 4-star recruit out of Georgia.

So then you think he will start at RT for an injured steele? I know nothing about the kid, his strengths or weaknesses.

I'm thinking that he will probably be able to play LT in case Tyron goes down. Or at least that's what I interpret the plan to be, which would make sense imo. I think we will probably still draft either a guard or tackle later in the draft to serve as depth. I'd look for a player like Zavala from NC State or Mafi from UCLA as guards to provide some depth too. That way, if we have to shuffle the line for any other issues like Steele, we'd have players at the ready to play for a few games. In other words, we'd have quality depth on the line so that we are actually prepared for injuries to the oline.

Exactly, but, between him and a likely mid/late round pick, we can actually be prepared in case of injuries. I also see this as an opportunity to give Josh Ball the sack.

“Edoga played left guard in Atlanta before suffering a season-ending knee injury.”

Ah, makes sense now.

who's starting for steele game 1? I thought Ball was the designated LT backup? If the new guy is a good LT prospect maybe ball moves to right? Almost forgot waletzco or however it's spelled, not sure if he was a LT or RT or swing.

Ball has to show some improvement or he is gone/.

I'd actually try to see if we can get a 7th round pick for him. I think that this move gives us the opportunity to move him. So, I'd find a team that is usually desperate at Oline that has a large cache of picks like Chicago, and I'd offer them Ball for a 7th. I'd see if they'd even bite on a 7th that can become a 6th if he becomes a starter. I'd then use that pick to try to get an extra lineman late.
