Ahhh, to make $720k per year and the fans have no clue who the hell you are. What a life!

After declining to offer the restricted free agent tender, the Cowboys have signed safety Darian Thompson to a one-year deal worth $720,000. Thompson, a former third-round pick of the New York Giants in 2016, was signed off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad last October and saw most of his action on special teams. The Cowboys like Thompson’s athleticism and believe a full year in their offseason program will give him a chance to contribute more on defense.

This has Super Bowl written all over it!

For this year, at least, the Cowboys will be doubling down on signing backups, rather than the high-dollar players. They'll have all that they can realistically do to practically accommodate signing the players that they intend to retain on their roster. Even Sean Lee will more than likely be required to accept a substantially lower contractual amount if he wants to be retained on the team. They'll mainly be reloading w/the draftees. Tough decisions lie ahead.

It’s not too early to also point out that this very well could be their “solution” to their S issues.

Yep, that's entirely possible. The crunch to re-sign the current players will take a big chunk out of our cap dough. The draft will supply the bulk of their new additions, as usual. Hopefully, Thompson might serve his purpose on the ST units and as a potential backup for Heath. We'll see. ;)

How would you know that? Just because they aren't "all pros" doesn't mean that that can't improve and play decent football.
look at the safety, he's been in the league for a few years and didn't earn a starting spot (those are the guys JJ likes?)
and come on man, I love Witten but how do you see him working out?

Like ET, he was hurt for a year but, he did show his first year. As for Witten, no TE in the business runs the Yoption like he does.
He will still be effective inside the redzone I think. We can argue about players till the cows come home but, Stephen does not play
in the 1st two weeks of FA and isn't going to this year either.

The Jones's love the way guys look at combines and in their shorts....:)

At least the Cowboy's FO isn't paying 15mil per season to a player who is two years removed from playing full time and will be 2 years older than we he played full time.
We still have the draft to find another decent safety and we keep our piggy's in the piggy bank too!

He started in 2017 for the giants.
Woods is a baller.
And this front office has a hard on for Jeff heath so he was never taking that spot if it was anywhere near equal footing in terms of play in practice.
