Why have a Cole Beasley imitation when we already have the real thing? He adds nothing to the team that we don't already have. I wish him well and hope he has a great training camp but I don't seeing him staying here.

Lol, always the optimist.

You have Dez, T-Will, Beasley, Whitehead, Butler, and Street

Street, in my opinion, is out the door already despite what the coaches might say leading training camp. Eagan also looks like he can play outside from time to time when Beasley is limited to strictly the slot. His competition will be Butler and Whitehead, most likely coming down to special teams play as the deciding factor.

I'd agree that Eagan mainly poses a threat to replace Lucky Whitehead more so than Beasley but it'll take an impressive TC to make it happen.

There's more than likely a valid reason why he's become a candidate. It's always somewhat difficult for a rook to displace a veteran. Stay tuned.

Folks on this board grossly overrate Beasley, who's average at best on offense and sucks on punt returns.

Like Beasley, Eagan was an undrafted FA. At the very least, there should be some competition for PR and the slot. Cowboys are not good enough that they can afford to think every offensive position is set. Beasley is not an untouchable, no player should feel entitled to their position. Let them all compete and let the best player start.

In the first second of a pass play, Beasley and Romo make the same reads on the coverage. And Beasley gets to the spot where he's supposed to be. Raw talent can't beat that. That's also why Laurent Robinson did so well when he was here. Good situational awareness and route running.

Perhaps Eagan can show good skills and make the team, but there's going to be a ton of competition for the last spot or two on the WR roster. Bringing something the others don't have (speed, return skills, special teams, etc) are his best bet.

I hope DAL lloks at Roster as WR1, WR2 and WR3.
WR1- Dez, Mayle, Smith and Andy Jones. Competition amongst Mayle, Smith and Jones can be fierce.
WR2-TWill vs Brice Butler and Chris Brown. Street will be CUT.
WR3- Beasley, Whitehead vs Eagan. I won't be surprised if Eagan outplays Whitehead.

Also just because someone is short and white, or a black quarterback, can we stop with the race-based comparisons?

Why can't he just be the first Ed Eagan?

I'm not judging him by the color of his skin, I'm judging him by the fact I would call him "Edgar Egghead" or something that if I saw him on walking down the street.
